U of T is ranked no. 1 in Canada. 2nd for my course and comes in the top 20 each year.
Course Curriculum :
A strong work ethic is required - following all the instructions in the course material will guarantee a good grade for students. The course structure is very good and I can say 95% of students will develop a very strong understanding of the topics discussed. Scoring good grades is separate from understanding materials. The course is mostly outlines and each professor can decide how to teach and test the concepts and topics. The very flexible environment in terms of learning.
Exams :
Most documents other than grades are considered supplementary only. I have my CV which had my accomplishments and information about extracurricular work. I added an SOP to show why I want to study in Canada. LOS is great if they come from people who are actually in the industry you are aiming for. Did not have any tests or interviews.
Placement :
UofT is the most popular university in the region. Job prospects are really good. But that depends a lot on performance in academics. Just the university name is not enough.
Internship :
Not opted.
Events :
Infrastructure is very good. There are libraries and student-oriented study spots all around and accessible most of the time during the day. Clubs and communities are endless. There are regular meetings and events on campus.
Fees :
55k per year tuition fee. Residence expenses are separate
Scholarship :
I have not received any scholarships. Options are limited for international students.
Faculty :
The faculty are amazing at UofT. Most of them are involved in research and some of them even lead research teams in summers (or all year). Getting to know them and taking interest in their work will help you get in touch with them. Research is a huge part of UofT. Being a big university, the ratio isn't really good. Class sized tend to be very large and sometimes near 700-800 students too. For 4th year courses, the material gets very deep and specific to the program, so the ratio is more balanced.
Hostel :
For first-year, living on campus was great and very safe. In later years, most students prefer to move out and find their own accommodation. Costs may be a little expensive for some students as the rates are not standard and depend on the accommodation chosen.
