- The objective of the School of Urban Planning is to produce qualified professional urban planners for the public and the private sectors and to equip them with the necessary intellectual and practical skills in this respect.
- The M.A program is open to students holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Anthropology, Architecture, Economics, Engineering, Geography, Law, Management, Political Science, Social Work, Sociology, or Urban Studies.
- The program of study offered by the School is fully recognized by the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec (OUQ) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).
- Graduates of the program can become full members of these professional organizations once having met their respective internship requirements.
- This program requires two years of study, including a three-month summer internship in a professional setting.
- Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to have acquired basic planning skills, a broad understanding of urban issues, and specialized knowledge in a field of their own choice.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold a B.A., B.Sc., B.S.Sc. (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the proposed field of study.
- The university degree, described above, must have been completed with an overall Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0, or a Grade Point Average of 3.2/4.0 within the last two full-time academic years.
- Basic (i.e., high-school level) proficiency in algebra is expected of all applicants as preparation for the M.U.P. methods training in statistics and data analysis.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Candidates should hold a B.A., B.Sc., B.S.Sc. (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the proposed field of study. from institutions with a NAAC rating of “A”.
- The university degree, described above, must have been completed with a minimum standing of 3.3/4.0 or the equivalent, according to the grading scale on the transcript.
- Basic (i.e., high-school level) proficiency in algebra is expected of all applicants as preparation for the M.U.P. methods training in statistics and data analysis.
- Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
