Course Curriculum :
The course was well structured and taught with great enthusiasm. Course material was given in advance and relevant book were mentioned in the syllabus.
Exams :
GRE Physics - 900 TOEFL -105 ( Reading- 29, Writing -23, Speaking-25, Listening - 28)
Placement :
I don't have much knowledge of placement process because I didn't want to apply for any job. I wanted to go for a PhD so didn't attend any recruitment process. But many workshops were conducted to guide the students about how they should proceed with the placements, and what all opportunities they have after they complete their studies.
Internship :
There was an option to select from 6 month internship or 2 semester advanced lab course. I did the lab course because it was more beneficial for me. But yeah in the physics department we have an opportunity to go for an internship.
Fees :
Semester fees was around 345? per semester.
Faculty :
Faculty and staff is very helpful and approachable. They never hesitate to clear our doubts. I particularly was impacted by Prof. Dr. Matthias Kruger. He was our professor of advanced statistical physics course and renormalization group course. His style of teaching is exciting and he gives such simple analogies that make difficult concept easier. Luckily, he was also my thesis supervisor and he helped and motivated me on every step.
Campus Life :
Campus life is good. There is no club in the campus as such, but there are many clubs in the city, and nearby the main campus. Since, the city of Goettingen is not so big, everything can be reached within half an hour. The campus infrastructure is great, and the library is pretty amazing; there is a lot of literature and one can find good books on every topic. Wifi is fast. There is a dedicated sports complex where one can play a lot of sports. The membership costs only 3? per month, and with the membership one can play any sport from the available options. It'll also cover the cost of injury that may happen while playing.
Hostel :
The problem one can face is regarding the accomodation. There is usually a waiting period of 6-12 months in the hostel and dorm rooms. So, we have to look for rooms after getting there. There are some apps where one can look for a room, like wg-gesucht, and try to get a room before reaching Göttingen. If one is not able to find a room on the app, what they can do is book an Airbnb for a few days; When they'll reach Göttingen they can visit Gottinger hausverwaltung and from there they can get a room easily.
