The size, the location, and they have my major. Only 2 schools in Minnesota offer a music Business program and Augsburg just felt right. It's also an ELCA which is what I grew up in. So that was an added bonus on top.
Course Curriculum
I love the curriculum at Augsburg. I'm doing hands-on work that I'd be going in my career. Our liberal arts education curriculum is also wonderful. Since we're an ELCA school we take 2 religion courses but religion isn't forced into anyone. The classes are intro level which I think is perfect because then everyone has a base understanding of the three major faiths.
Exams
ACT with Writing, I tried AP Biology and got a 2 on the exam. Most students don't get credit unless it?s above a 3.
Placement
Incredible! My internship this summer is at Green Room Music Source which is a small label in Minnesota and Nashville! I know other students who have interned at US Bank, Excel Energy and more! I know that before I graduate there will be another internship opportunity as well.
Internship
Yes, they do! I haven't had one yet but I will come May! We have an entire department dedicated to working on our professional careers. They look at our resumes, cover letters, will host mock interviews, and place students in internships. There is a requirement in our education that is the Augsburg Experience which means that you have to have some experiential learning experience, Internships are one option for that.
Fees
So we have tuition, housing, food plan, our green fee which is helping the university buy every student a metro transit pass, student activity fee, newspaper fee, technology fee and then this semester a short term study abroad trip for this semester.
Scholarship
Yes! Our university is 98% financial aid driven which means 98% of students get some sort of financial aid which is incredible! For a sticker price of about $42,000, I'm paying less than $6,000 per semester!
Examination Structure
It differs in each class. My music business courses aren't exam driven, but project-based since that's more realistic for our topics than an exam. Other classes like business courses usually have upwards of 4 exams per semester.
Faculty
Our faculty is outstanding my program only has one faculty member and he supports the program wonderfully. I also love our Religion faculty, they're top-notch and know what they're talking about. Our average class size is 16 so students really get to make personal connections with our professors. I have a class currently with three students and a professor and Augsburg will still hold the class. I'm so grateful for that experience in itself along with the rest of my current education.
