This programme at Trinity College Dublin aims to provide those who wish to apply for senior positions with the skills necessary for advancing knowledge, initiating and encouraging innovation, and leading and developing nursing thus enabling them to achieve their highest potential in both their academic and professional lives.
Structure & Delivery
This fulltime taught M.Sc. in Nursing is a one year theory programme comprising of six modules and a dissertation. Lectures usually start in mid- September each year and the course runs for one calendar year.
Small classes facilitate the opportunity for students to engage in interactive lectures, discussions and debate. Focusing on the development of critical analysis, reflection, research and presentation skills helps students advance their knowledge of practice and research applied to their area of nursing. Students form small study groups to provide mutual peer support and arenas for discussion and debate. Students can attend our annual interdisciplinary research conference, regular research days, seminars, data analysis clinics and learn about the latest research and practice developments from international and national experts.

Students who successfully complete all requirements of the programme will be awarded an M.Sc. by the University of Dublin, Trinity College. Our graduates are employed as clinical practitioners, leaders, managers and policy makers in healthcare and hold senior positions in healthcare and professional organisations. For those who want to advance their practice, the M.Sc. provides for the development of research and critical analysis skills that are essential to a Ph.D. programme

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants should hold a 2:1 honors degree in nursing or related field from an Irish University or an Equivalent University
- Should have academic competency and higher grades
- Academic transcripts of previous education
- Two academic references
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS: 6.5 overall minimum
- TOEFL: 88 minimum in IBT; 570 minimum in PBT; 230 minimum in CBT
- PTE: minimum 63 with no section below 59
- Duolingo: 110/160 overall
