The B.Sc. Nursing (Mental Health) is a fulltime four year degree programme offered by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Limerick, in conjunction with the Health Service Executive West (Limerick, Clare, Tipperary North). On successful completion of the programme, you will be able to present for registration with An Bord Altranais agus Cn?imhseachais na h?ireann and practise as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (R.P.N.). The Department of Nursing and Midwifery has received approval from An Bord Altranais agus Cn?imhseachais na h?ireann for the programme.
The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to become an analytical and reflective practitioner; one who is able to provide a holistic and caring approach to people experiencing mental health problems. It will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual needs of persons with mental health problems. This knowledge will be acquired through the study and practice of nursing, biological sciences, social sciences and related disciplines.
