I wanted to be free to live in a country I am not familiar with. But I didn't want to go to Europe because it would have been a big culture shock, so Malaysia was a good option to help me gain experience abroad, while not having such a big culture shock.
Course Curriculum
Mechatronics is not very specific as it focuses on both mechanical and electrical aspects. It provides a certain amount of knowledge in both fields. For me personally the course was different from what I was expecting and hence I am going to graduate later this year in the UK in a different field. However, if one is really interested in this field, the projects we do and the material we learn are really interesting.
Exams
The requirements for A level were 3B's and I got 3B's as well. An IELTS score of at least 6.5 was required and my score was 8.0.
Placement
I haven't looked into this part yet as I'm not really interested in continuing in this field. It was a personal choice and I am sure if anyone else is interested in robotics, they will love this course.
Internship
No, I didn't get an internship.
Events
Pre-Covid, campus life was very fun as events were organized by clubs, societies and student unions throughout the year. All the facilities on campus are very good and you can spend your time the way you want, be it playing squash to studying in the study lounge.
Fees
55000 MYR is the program fee.
Scholarship
No, I didn't receive any scholarship.
Faculty
The Faculty of Engineering is predominantly male but has a small number of female students. However, most of the lecturers just read from the slides and I would love it if they made the classes more interactive. All the lecturers have a lot of knowledge about their subjects. There are some lecturers who have helped me through very difficult times when I didn't understand anything in class.
Hostel
There are many different options provided by the university and it varies in price. They all include an air conditioner and Wi-Fi. The campus rent is 700 Ringgit per month for an attached single room.
