UM was recommended to me by a senior colleague who has worked for decades in South East Asia. Additionally, UM is a publicly funded research university and is ranked within the top 60 globally with very high research output.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is rigorous and was designed by academics having taught foreign and Malaysian military and police officials. The research component takes to a higher level.
Exams
The admission requirements were minimum 3.8/4.0 CGPA at the Undergraduate level and IELTS 6.5. My IELTS score was 7. However, for working professionals with relevant job experience, the 3.8 CGPA requirement is negotiable.
Placement
Our department serves experienced professionals. we dint have the concept of placement. But other faculties like that of Engineering have. We used to get lot of mails and calls for job fairs and interviews though.
Internship
No, I didn't get an internship.
Events
At the Master's level, we used to have evening classes. Not much is expected in terms of participation in extra curriculum activities as we are all working professionals.
Fees
5,00,000 INR approximately is the program fee.
Scholarship
No, I didn't receive any scholarship.
Faculty
The faculty has rich experience. Most of them have worked with the military and the government at various levels. That makes them stand apart from others.
Hostel
I lived off campus. However, there are well-furnished apartment-style dormitories and hostels for foreign students. However, the hostel fee is 650 Ringgit/person, while a room is available outside the campus for 400~450 Ringgit. Food is cheap on campus.
