In the first year you expand your knowledge in Maths, Statistics, Chemistry and Physics. At the start of the year you will be introduced to developing sustainable solutions to environmental problems. At the end of the year you can apply your knowledge and insights in a real life context.

In a knowledge integration course you carry out research for a company or organisation. In small groups you try to solve a case in a sustainable way. Concluding this 2nd year, you go on a study trip abroad together with fellow students.

During the third year you gain more extensive knowledge in your major, which you can apply in your individual thesis.?There are three majors you can choose from: Environmental Policy and Economics, Environmental Quality and Systems Analysis, and Environmental Technology.?

The other semester is available for elective courses at Wageningen University & Research or at another university in the Netherlands or abroad.

Future career -

Graduates of Environmental Sciences generally go on to complete a two-year master?s programme afterwards. The bachelor's programme in Environmental Sciences grants admission to a range of MSc programmes at?.

Work in various fields

Graduates from the master?s programmes in Environmental Sciences and Urban Environmental Management (which follow on from the bachelor of Environmental Sciences) are familiar with virtually all aspects of environmental issues and can therefore work in a range of fields. In the industry they work on improved production methods or environmental management, while those in the public sector create or implement environmental policy.?

Those working for engineering or consulting firms are involved with projects related to soil decontamination or integrated water management. At universities or research institutes, they generate new knowledge and environmental technologies.
