Master of Science [M.S] [Leisure, Tourism and Environment] From Wageningen University & Research

The? M.Sc. at is one of the few international tourism programs that does not place an emphasis on management and marketing perspectives. Instead, this master programme has a strong academic and interdisciplinary approach that takes a critical look at tourism. Tourism belongs to the most rapid growing industries worldwide and it takes first place with regard to structural employment opportunities.?

The programme at Wageningen University & Research consists of a varied group of international students who come from all over the world to broaden their scope by means of socio-cultural analyses in relation to tourism. The master also offers the opportunity for you to follow a minor, in which you can follow additional courses such as International Development, Environmental Policy or Cultural Geography.

Experiential and International Approach

In contrast to the more traditional scientific emphasis on tourism, this study programme has an experiential approach in the first place. Much attention is paid to the analysis of significance and meaning of tourism choices, both in consumption and production. The study is truly international and comparative, taking the Dutch, European and global context into consideration.?

Future career

Among the professional job possibilities are experts in sustainable tourism or visitor management.?A third of our graduates continuous to be active in the field of tourism after graduation. This can take shape, for example, in a foreign tourism board, a (multinational) tour agency, a consultancy firm in recreation, a university faculty on international tourism, or a non-governmental organization that aims to include tourism as a means to alleviate poverty.?
