AICTE Revises Academic Calendar for Admission 2022: PGDM Admissions Open in B-Schools till Sept 20

New Delhi: All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE has officially revised the academic calendar for admission 2022, and extended the deadline for MBA admissions in MBA colleges till September 20, 2022. 

With the extension in the deadline, the management institute can offer admission to the new MBA batch till September 20, 2022. However, the AICTE has not yet announced the starting date for the academic session 2021-22 for the new PGDM Batch. 

As per the ‘Revised Academic Calendar’ released by AICTE, the institutes offering PGDM can commence the academic sessions for existing & new students and start classes in offline or blended mode (online as well as offline).

The revised academic calendar for B-schools consists of the guidelines for the PGCM/ PGDM admission deadline, revised dates to apply for fee refund among other key instructions. 

The AICTE guidelines are mandatory for more than 500 management institutes including top B-schools like XLRISPJIMR and MDI who offer AICTE approved PGDM programs.

This year, the AICTE has revised and extended various dates regarding the admission and commencement of the academic year for the benefit of the students seeking admission in MBA programs 2022.

Seat cancellation Date Extended 

The AICTE has also extended the deadline for the seat cancellation with full fee refund. Therefore, the candidates can submit the application for full fee refund and seat cancellation till September 13, 2022.

Candidates applying for full fee refund in the case of seat cancellation should note that a deduction of INR 1000/- will be applicable according to the AICTE guidelines. 

The council has already instructed the management institutes that the students should get the due amount of their fee refunded within 7 days from the date of submission of the application at the college. 

Commencement of the Academic Session & Guidelines to Start Classes

Apart from extending the deadlines, the council has instructed the B-schools that the session commencement for existing and new batches of students for the PGDM/PGCM courses can commence with offline (classroom) or blended mode (Online & Offline) classes. 

However, all the B-Schools should mandatorily follow the prescribed protocols / guidelines related to pandemic. This is a progressive move by the regulator and is in accordance with international practices. 

IIMs and other top B-schools are conducting their classes online and will soon start the offline conduct of their classes.

Academic Calendar Likely to Change Depending upon Situation 

According to the AICTE, the academic Calendar may change subject to the conditions existing owing to the pandemic and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health/ Ministry of Home/ Ministry of Education from time to time.

Even last year, the AICTE had extended the last date for the MBA colleges in India to Offer PGDM/ MBA Admission and revised its academic calendar thrice, considering the pandemic situation across the country.
