Odisha is planning on conducting a common PG Entrance test(CPET) in Universities as well as autonomous colleges. The Higher Education Department of Odisha had conducted a meeting on August 12 with the representatives of universities and government officials regarding the same.
CPET is to be conducted for the first time in Odisha, between September 30 and October 7. Students who wish to get admission to Odisha state university or government autonomous colleges for Post Graduation courses need to sit for CPET 2020.

The Education department had earlier planned to conduct the examination in the universities. But after the discussion with the universities and the principals from the autonomous colleges in the state, it has decided to conduct CPET in autonomous colleges as well.
The Department Secretary, Saswat Mishra and the Odisha State Higher Education Council Vice Chairman Asoka Kumar Das had discussed with the principals of the colleges and universities about the preparations necessary for the smooth conduct of the exam.

"Keeping the pandemic situation in mind, we are trying to increase examination centres to help the students to cut their travel time. Presently, eight to nine districts have state universities under the higher education department. But other districts have autonomous colleges which will be used as centres for the convenience of students. More examination centres will reduce crowd too," as was stated by Mishra.
The Higher Education has also discussed the logistics of the process of one common PG Entrance exam.The Regional Director of Education( RDEs) have been instructed to form groups of observers who will supervise the conduction of the exam.
According to Sharat Kumar Majhi, Controller of Examination of Utkal University, CPET 2020 will be conducted by three universities - Utkal University, Berhampur University and Sambalpur University.
CPET 2020 will be MCQ based. Students will be marked on a score of 100. There will be 70 mcqs with 1 mark each. The rest 30 marks will be awarded on the basis of career marking.
The Common Application Form(CAF) has been released online at www.samsodisha.gov.in. Students can apply for CPET 2020 till August 31. Hall ticket for the same will be available from September 20.
