DU 2nd Cut off List: Cut off Drops Marginally; Seats still available in popular courses; Check Details Here


Delhi University, on Saturday, has released the second cut-off list for the undergraduate courses. The Cut-off for second list has dropped marginally.

The eligibility score has been dropped from 0.2 to 1% points. However, there are still several seats available in several DU affiliated colleges for popular courses such as English (Hons), B.Com (Hons), and Economics (Hons). 

Under the first cut-off lists, out of 70,000 seats, Neary 35,500 of the seats are filled in the English (Hons) course.

However, the remaining seats are still available in the English (Hons) course at the most sought-after colleges including the following,

In the same way, B.A (Hons) in Economics is also available in colleges such as,

The admission under the second cut-off list will be held from October 18 to 20, 2020.

However, there are many seats available in popular humanities courses like Political Science (Hons) Programme:

Manoj Khanna, the principal of Ramjas College explained the reason behind the marginal drop in the second cutoff lists, stating that the courses available in the second cut-off lists have a few seats in the majority of the colleges. Therefore there is a marginal drop in the second cut-off list. 

Further, he added that to avoid over admissions in the college, the authorities had announced the same percentage in the second cutoff list as in the first cutoff list for the B.A(Programme) combination.

Lady Shri Ram College had announced 100% in the first cutoff for admission to Political Science, Psychology, and Economics. However, there are still many seats available in many courses. 

The cutoff in Economics(Hons) has dropped by 1% points in the second list, while in Psychology and Political Science, the percentage has dropped by 0.25% points. 

SRCC continued with the same cutoff of 99% to Economics (Hons) in the second cut-off list. However, the admission cut-off in BCom (Hons) has been dropped by 0.5% points for admission to B.Com (Hons) in the college.

Hindu College has closed admission for the UR category in many courses including English, Political Science, History, Physics, and Chemistry. There is a drop of 0.5% points for admission to B.A (Hons) in Economics, while a drop of 1% points in B.Com (Hons) in the second cut-off list.

The principal of Hindu College, Anju Shrivastava said that the college has dropped the cutoffs marginally in courses where only a few seats are available. Moreover, there is the same cutoff for philosophy in the second cut-off, as there is only 1 seat left to be filled against the sanctioned strength.

Similarly, Hansraj College has closed admission for the UR category in courses such as Hindi, History, Botany, Mathematics, and three combinations of BA (prog). There's a cutoff drop of 0.25% points for admission to Economics (Hons) and English (Hons). 

Many of the DU affiliated colleges had a marginal drop between the two cut-off lists that were released. However, there was a drop of 5% points in the second cut-off list of off-campus colleges. 

For instance, there has been a drop as high as 3 to 4 % points in many courses including B.Sc (Honours), Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry at Dyal Singh College
