December 19, 2021: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and the West Bengal Government have recently joined hands to offer leadership training to over 1300 heads of schools.
Under this partnership, the West Bengal Government and IIM Calcutta will provide leadership training opportunities to heads of government and government-aided primary, secondary and higher secondary-level educational institutes in Bengal.
Referring to the initiative, the Director of IIM-Calcutta, Prof Uttam Kumar Sarkar, said, “I am glad that the Paschim Banga Samagra Shiksha Mission (PBSSM), under the School Education Department, has identified and taken the lead in focused intervention in education”.
“This is a timely and necessary step in the right direction," he added. The statement was made by IIM Calcutta Director during the inauguration of the first batch of the training program.
IIM Calcutta Courses & Eligibility
The collaboration between the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and the West Bengal Government was done on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
Following the collaboration, the ‘Leadership Development Program" will be facilitated by both IIT Calcutta and West Bengal Government. The training program will commence in small batches in the months of December 2021 and January 2022.
While talking about the highlights of the program, West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu stated that the training opportunity will be offered to quality heads of institutes. The program will offer them new skills and better education facilities.
The Leadership Development Program will train the leaders that will work towards "the change provocateurs as once stated by famous linguist Noam Chomsky about the role of intellectuals”, he added.
In addition to the collaboration, the IIM Calcutta has also launched an executive program in business and corporate law for interested and eligible applicants. The IIM Calcutta Executive Program will include an understanding of legal aspects of the business.
Professionals who have at least 2 years of working experience can now apply for the executive program at iimcal.ac.in. The program is scheduled to commence through online mode, on Sundays (10.30 AM to 1.30 PM) and select Fridays (6.30 PM to 9.30 PM).
