Schools in Maharashtra will reopen from November 23 for Classes 9 to 12, said the school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad.
On Saturday, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray held a video conference, in which Gaikwad announced the reopening of schools in the state.
He said that the Maharashtra schools will reopen for Classes 9 to 12, after the Diwali Celebration, and they will have to mandatorily follow all the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.

The CM warned everyone that there might be a second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and so the administration must be aware of it.
The quarantine centres in the schools must not be closed post the Diwali Celebration. The decision on alternative places for classrooms can be taken by the local administration.
Protocols & Guidelines to be Followed
The CM added certain protocols that should be followed by the schools. They're as follows,
- The schools must be sanitized well
- The Covid-19 tests must be done for the teachers
- The sick students aren't allowed to come to the schools
- Students whose family member is sick must not be sent to schools
- Students will have to undergo thermal checking before entering the campus
- One student will be allowed to sit on a bench.
Further, the education minister, Gaikwad said that all the teachers will have to undergo the RT-PCR Covid-19 tests from November 17 and 22, 2020.
The students will be taught subjects like English, Science, and Maths on alternate days, while the other subjects will be taught online, she concluded.
