During the pandemic, the world has witnessed an increasing demand of making the online test at home option available for the students. Taking note of this, Pearson has declared the availability of the PTE Academic Online Test from January, 2022.
According to the report, the remote test will follow the two hour in person PTE academic test.
The report further clarified that this test will not be applicable for the migration or visa purposes.
With this option, multiple universities also have declared their acceptance of it in the admission process. Some of these universities are the University of Manitoba, Humber College in Canada, the University of Oxford and University of York, the American University of Southern California, the University of Alabama and Arizona State University.
As per the Pie News, the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, Macquarie University and RMIT in Australia also accept this PTE score.
Freya Monk, the spokesperson of Pearson, commented on its planning on introducing this test to China in 2021. Currently, the PTE test is not available in Cuba, Iran and China.
She added that the worldwide demand for the PTE test has shown the need for a trusted and secured test option that can be taken at home as well. This is specifically important for the time of pandemic and lockdown.
Earlier, Pearson had made an agreement with the University of HongKong in 2021, to test the English Language proficiency of students through computer based tests. In that same month, Pearson had also announced the two hours pattern of PTE, reducing the questions worth 1 hour from the earlier model.
