SCERT has clarified that a reduction in the syllabus would not necessarily omit topics from the subjects. Instead, the size of the topics would be reduced.
As announced by CBSE, 33% Syllabus of 9th and 12th students will be reduced with changed Paper Pattern in the next academic session.
The parts of the syllabus which are unnecessary for the next standard would not be taught to the children. The repetition chapters of the previous standard would be self-learned by students.
It has also been announced by SCERT that the proposal is a temporary measure to account for the loss in classes due to the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown. The previous syllabus would be implied again from the next academic year.
SCERT Director, Mr Dhinkar Patil said,” We had set up a subject-wise committee to suggest modifications in the syllabus due to a truncated academic year in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Proper care has been taken not to exclude topics which are important in terms of common entrance tests and other such examinations. Once the state approves the changes, instructions would also be given to teachers to consider them.”
