New Delhi: Telangana government has informed to prioritize the expansion of medical education in the state to meet the primary medical requirements of the people.
The state government said that as a part of the initiative of prioritising the expansion of medical education, it has established Kaloji Narayana Rao Health University (KNRUHS) in Warangal.
The number of MBBS seats in Telangana has tremendously increased to 1,649 in 2021 from 700 in 2014 and the number is likely to rise to almost 5,240 after setting up a medical college in every district of the state.
According to the latest reports, the government has informed that the number of postgraduate medical seats has risen from 531 in 2014 to 967 by 2021.
Similarly, the number of super specialty seats has grown from 82 in 2014 to 153 by 2021. Therefore, the number of PG and super specialty seats is expected to increase to almost 2,500 and 1,000 seats in the near future.
The reports revealed that a total 9f 21 government hospitals offer CT scan services and Cath Labs, which were set up in Hyderabad as well as Khammam, Warangal and Adilabad to perform heart surgeries throughout the state.
As per the statement, the Chief Minister of the state, K Chandrashekar Rao-led regime has increased the per-bed expenditure from INR 5,000 to INR 7,500 to improve sanitation management in government hospitals alongside increasing the dietary charges for general patients from INR 40 to INR 80 per day.
Recently, the National Medical Commission (NMC) cancelled the admissions in three private medical colleges after the surprise inspections conducted by the NMC members.
The apex medical body cancelled the admission stating that these three colleges lacked proper faculty and infrastructure due to which the seats were cancelled.
With the apex medical body (NMC) cancelling the UG and PG admissions in three private medical colleges in the state, the postgraduate students are worried about their future and are demanding seats in other medical colleges in the state.
