The National Federation of The Blind is against the decision taken by Delhi University about conducting their End Year Semester exams though online Open Book mode.

According to them, most of the Final Year blind students have moved back to their hometowns in remote parts of the country due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and hence will be unable to avail scribes.

To this, Mr S.K Rungta, General Secretary of the National Federation Of The Blind added that visually impared students are more susceptible to the infection as they rely upon ‘contact’ more than others.

In its official declaration, DU has mentioned seperate rules for students with inabilities that allow them five hours to complete the test.

The federation has moved the Delhi HC against DU’s provision on taking online exams.

Law Suit in Delhi High Court against DU’s Provision of Exam

The Federation has recorded a writ appeal to the Delhi HC challenging the university’s choice to lead online tests. It suggested DU to advance the visually impaired students on the basis of offline exams and internal exams.

As of late, Delhi University reported that it won’t direct tests for the first and second year students.

The league has petitioned for directions from the college, UGC, and the service to either pronounce the consequence of outwardly weakened and other impaired understudies based on their presentation on the past semester marks…or disconnected open book assessment multi week subsequent to reviving of schools and colleges in the proportion of 50 percent marks for disconnected test and 50 percent for inward evaluation,” the alliance said in an announcement.
