Can we get into a good college under Calcutta University in Kolkata (e.g., Bethune College, Loreto College, etc.) with marks between 85-90% in the ISC 2021?

AS
Ashmita Saha Posted On : November 30th, 2021
MA Political Science, University of Calcutta (2020)

The cutoff for colleges in Kolkata is quite high. With 85-90%, you should get into good colleges under Calcutta University. But here are some things that you should keep in mind.

  • As the number of students applying is way more than the number of colleges, chances are you won’t get selected through the first or second round.
  • The colleges release multiple counseling lists. So, you need to wait. As many students withdraw their admission, leaving seats vacant.
  • If you aren’t confident about getting admission, apply to as many colleges as you can to keep your options open.
  • You can always take admission at a college you are easily getting into and withdraw when you get selected in your preferred college.

Also, you always have the option to get admission into private universities.

Will I get a seat at NERIST (2021) as I secured the 7th position in the waiting list of Assam?

AR
Anumita Roy Posted On : September 4th, 2021
B.Tech from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (2020)

From your question, it’s not quite clear which examination you took. NERIST conducts 3 examinations, i.e. NEE1, NEE2, and NEE3. You can appear for NEE1 after HSLC. NEE2 is for after the 12th. NEE3 is for after graduation.

If you have taken NEE1 or NEE2, there are good chances that you will be selected. Most students do their 10+2 and don’t join. For NEE2, students leave their seats, if they receive a better college.

However, for diploma students, it is one of the best colleges available in the Northeast. So, if you are a diploma student then it will be quite difficult to get admission with your rank.

What is the typical day routine like at the IIIT Gwalior?

SC
Sayani Chaki Posted On : July 23rd, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

One of my friends is a student of IIITM Gwalior. According to him, it is a really good college. His typical day at the institute is a mix of happening and mundane. This might require some details which I will be sharing with you. This might give you a basic idea of how a day goes there.

  • Getting up early for the class is a must. You would witness almost half of the students from the hostel do this.
  • Everyone usually wakes up a few minutes earlier before the class begins and rushes towards their rooms without taking a bath or even having breakfast.
  • You would attend classes until their lunch break happens.
  • In case you have some work with the labs, you would have to visit them, otherwise, you can go to your room and relax.
  • Your evenings will be the time to spend with your friends.
  • You can work on your hobbies. Learn Programming from others.
  • Participate in various competitive programs which are conducted by AASF.
  • You can even explore around the campus.

This was how a typical day goes by at the institute. Studies took place a few days prior to the examination. At times of events (tech, sports) that are conducted on the campus. On the exam days, it is either all of the group studying entirely or nothing at all. The weekends are for exploring and relaxing.

What things should I take to IIITG as a fresher?

NG
Nishat Ghose Posted On : April 29th, 2021
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati

Being a fresher, you will not know exactly what you will have to take with you in particularly except your clothing and stuff; so, here let me help you with few tips on what to take to the campus.

  • Kettle to make soupy stuff like Maggie and other purposes.
  • Laptop. It is quintessential and should be always handy.
  • Some snacks, though everything is available on the campus itself and also you can go to local markets which are very near to the institute
  • No matter what, medicines are very important. So, bring your medicines with you.
  • No washing machine is provided by the institute but you can keep your own by taking permission from the hostel in charge. So, you can bring your own detergent/soap to wash your own clothes.
  • Bring your blankets, bed sheets, towels.
  • Do not load your luggage with things, which you can buy at the campus site itself. Like, you can buy buckets, mug small stuff from campus surroundings.
  • ATM machine is built inside the campus. So, no worries about withdrawing money from here and there.

Local markets are available easily within the range of 3-4km away from the campus where you can get all the necessary kinds of stuff, so pack light.

How is the placement for executive PGDM from Alliance University?

IB
Indrajit Basak Posted On : April 8th, 2021
MCA from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore (2019)

The placements are very poor for PGDM at Alliance University and one should do proper research and get some reviews before taking up this course. You should consider your benefits for the long term also.

Categories

Executive PGDM from Alliance University

Course Fee

2.45 lakhs

Course Duration

16 months

Work Experience Required

24 months

Average CTC

7.6 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Aditya Birla, Amazon, Bosch, Bridgestone, E&Y, IBM, KPMG, etc.

Following are the reasons to avoid getting into Alliance University:

  • The faculty of this university for this course is very poor and doesn't offer proper support to its students.
  • The course curriculum is not that great and is very outdated when compared to other popular colleges offering the same course.
  • Doing this course from this university won't help you much as many companies don't acknowledge or appreciate it.
  • Companies don't treat the employees as nicely, so if you're planning to do PGDM, try doing it from any other top universities where you will get much respect and recognition which you truly deserve.

During admissions, they will surely promise great placements in top companies and will tell you a lot of good things about their college and environment, but they will be just fooling you around.

Why are there only 39 seats in the first batch of IT with specialisation in Business Informatics in IIIT Allahabad?

SG
Soumi Ghosh Posted On : March 11th, 2021
Former student at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2013-2018)

The first batch of B.Tech IT business informatics was recently introduced in 2019. The program has been designed by adding some special features along with core B. Tech curriculum which is usually offered at IIIT-A. With the aim of giving the best of all the resources, IIIT-A authorities decided to limit the number of seats for first batch students. Based upon the demand and other criteria, there is a high chance of modification of the seat matrix in the future.

Some features which are compulsory for students pursuing B.Tech in business informatics at IIIT-A are mandatory French/German language course, compulsory credit based summer internships, Harvard business case study based approach in pedagogy which requires high-quality resources. So limiting the number of seats to give quality education and focusing on each of their students is IIIT-A's main goal now.

Round -1 Cutoff:

  • You have to clear JEE Main with a ranking of around 3097 to get into B.Tech business informatics in the first round.
  • Closing rank trends from the past few years have been around 4651 for the general category.

Detailed seat matrix:

Branch

Seats

Information technology and business informatics - Gender neutral

32

Information technology and business informatics - female only

08

Total seats

40

First batch students are yet to face placements in 2022, the course seems very promising and opportunities are equal to that of the B.Tech IT branch.

How is EC in IIIT Allahabad?

SS
Shreya Singh Posted On : March 9th, 2021
B. Tech Information Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2020)

ECE is a great branch and has a lot of research scope as well. IIIT- Allahabad is a great college with awesome infrastructure, amazing placements, and a growing reputation. Despite all this, some people say that ECE in IIIT- Allahabad is not up to the mark or appreciable.

Most of the students join IIIT Allahabad keeping in mind their coding culture. If you have an aptness for programming and want to pursue a career in the IT industry, go for IIIT Allahabad. People who have an interest in CSE/IT but fail to get a seat in a good engineering college join ECE in IIIT Allahabad just to get an IT-like atmosphere.

Not many students who come to IIIT Allahabad are interested in the core fields or the core ECE material. But this doesn’t indicate ECE here to be bad or not up to the mark. The ones who work hard in the core fields reach different levels of heights in their academic career. They have great courses with the core subjects right from the first semester. The robotics lab and club are very well established and have a great reputation.

Talking about labs, IIIT Allahabad is known to have one of the best class labs in the country with all the required aid and mechanisms. The core subjects start from the first semester itself. So, you don’t need to study physics, chemistry, etc. The teachers are very nice and well educated. They are really very helpful, co-operative and approachable.

The placement opportunities are great here, particularly in the IT sector. There is no point comparing EC with IT. IT/CSE placements are inferior in any college in India. The only disadvantage of joining ECE in IIIT Allahabad would be the peer group not taking interest in the core stuff. But if you are more concerned about yourself, it won’t matter much.
