Is an ECE at NIT Goa better than a CSE at Jamia Millia Islamia?

RB
Rita Banerjee Posted On : August 25th, 2021
Studied Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering at Jamia Millia Islamia (2020)

I have cousins from both NIT Goa, and Jamia Millia Islamia and as they mention, the latter is famous for its CSE course. Usually, students do not leave the opportunity to go for the CSE course of Jamia Millia Islamia.

  • CSE is comparably better than most of the other branches in the educational domain.
  • CSE provides you job opportunities in accordance to what you have been exposed to, academically.
  • On the other hand, ECE is undeniably a good choice of stream.
  • For securing a good job position, you will have to pursue majoring in one of many programming languages or web development projects.
  • This translates to studying for your course and also pursuing something extra for exposure.
  • While CSE students are already part of studying these domains in general.
  • ECE students usually also go for the GATE exam.
  • However, the only upside ECE students enjoy is finding the slightest amount of vacancies in PSU, while CS students are somewhat one step lower than it.
Categories ECE at NIT Goa CSE at Jamia Millia Islamia
Course Fee 5.38 lakh 64,600
Highest CTC 13 LPA 20 LPA
Average CTC 6.5 LPA 8-10 LPA
Recruiting Companies L&T, Microsoft, Siemens, Infosys, etc. TCS, Wipro, Adobe, Cognizant, etc.

Apart from these few, it depends upon how hard you work. Be it ECE or CSE, you have to work hard and utilize the time and opportunities you get while studying in college.

When will NIT Goa get its new campus?

AR
Ajinkya Rahane Posted On : August 23rd, 2021
ECE at NIT Warangal (2021)

One of my friends is a student of NIT Goa and according to him, the new campus is being built at Cuncolim, Goa.

Most essentially, the director of NIT Goa once went on to mention that the new campus of the institute would be established within 1 and a half years, back in December 2020. As of now, it seems that the construction will last until mid-2022.

However, the anticipation of the final construction date cannot be determined. But since there is a locational advantage, the campus would be a successful attempt in the near future. Besides, students will have access to beaches in close proximity to South Goa.

At present, the construction is at the very initial stage, while the office of construction has only been recently set up.

Which is better for EEE? Nirma institute of technology, Manipal or NIT Goa?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : March 24th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

If you are planning to pursue Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and are considering Manipal and NIT Goa, here is what you should know:

  • Manipal is one of the top-ranked private institutions in India and is known for its excellent infrastructure and academic resources. However, it may be a more expensive option than NIT Goa.
  • NIT Goa, on the other hand, is a relatively new institute, established in 2010. While it has been gaining popularity in recent years, it may be a risky choice for EEE as it does not have a good lab infrastructure required for the course.

Here are some other factors you may want to consider before making a decision:

  • Faculty: Manipal has a strong faculty base with experienced professors who are well-known in their fields. NIT Goa is still building its faculty base and may not have the same level of expertise as Manipal.
  • Placements: Both Manipal and NIT Goa have decent placement records. However, Manipal may have an edge due to its reputation and alumni network.
  • Location: Manipal is located in a small town in Karnataka, while NIT Goa is located in Farmagudi, Ponda, Goa. Depending on your preferences, one location may be more suitable than the other.

Ultimately, the decision between Manipal and NIT Goa will depend on your individual preferences and circumstances. It is important to do your research and make an informed decision that aligns with your career goals and financial capabilities.

Which is better NIT Goa or NIT Jamshedpur?

HB
Hiya Bose Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
Studied at NIT Jamshedpur

NIT Jamshedpur is a better institute than NIT Goa, here’s why.

  • Placements: The placements of NIT Jamshedpur are better than most of the NITs including NIT Goa, and companies like Amazon, BPCL, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Oracle, Samsung are the major recruiters here. The average package offered here is more than 6 LPA. It is the only NIT where many PSUs visit, that doesn’t even visit the top IITs.
  • Hostel: The hostels are fabulous and are one of the finest hostels as it is better than some of the IITs. The rooms are big in size with all the modern facilities available for the students including a lift inside the hostel building.
  • Academics: There is no requirement of maintaining minimum attendance so that you can both attend your classes and invest time in improving your skills and knowledge and learning new things.
  • Extracurricular: The society of Automobile teams is great.

These are some of the primary reasons why NIT Jamshedpur is better than NIT Goa.

What facilities are there at NIT Goa? Can someone give a brief answer, keeping in mind laboratories, faculty, hostel, campus life etc. ?

AV

I have a friend who used to be a student of NIT Goa. Based on the conversation I had with him, I can give you some information regarding the facilities offered by the institute.

  • Labs: There are around a hundred computers that run on Linux and Windows in the CSE lab. You cannot expect Mac in colleges. The internet availability is nice. Wi-Fi facility is available in the main building and hostels. Classrooms have projectors as well as Wi-Fi. Other department labs are also well-equipped.
  • Faculty: You should not keep your expectations very high because there are only a few very good teachers. But they are good enough to inspire you. There are some good faculties for cryptography and algorithms in the computer science department.
  • Hostel: It is not that good, but it is manageable. It has Wi-Fi and a mess where no one eats.
  • Campus life: The campus is nice and in a good location as well because it has a lot of greenery around. The present campus is a temporary one.

As it has been years since its establishment, students organize a lot of events which you will find entertaining.

How hard did you study to get into NIT Goa?

RC
Rishabh Chandani Posted On : August 25th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Goa (2019)

One of my friends is a student of NIT Goa and according to him, he didn’t study a whole lot. It came as a complete surprise to him. During his 12th grade, his aim was to focus on Board examinations and not prepare for any entrance exam. After that, he intended to take a year off. Following his 12th board examinations, he took JEE Main and a few more exams to gauge the amount of hard work he needs to put in over the next year.

The paper results were likewise as expected. He just made the cut-off by 20–25 points. JEE Advanced was difficult for him to finish.

Surprisingly, board scores were taken into account when JEE ranks were released that year. Because he was studying for his boards that year, his 12th-grade scores gave him an advantage, and as a result, he was able to earn a reasonable grade, which eventually brought him to NIT Goa.

No one can tell you how hard you need to work. You will know how to prepare yourself best.

Can I get a seat at NIT Goa with 145 marks in the JEE Mains?

DS
Daanish Singh Posted On : August 21st, 2021
Studying from Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida (2021)

It is not mentioned in your question whether the home state of Goa is applicable for you or not. Not only this, the category from which you belong is also not mentioned in the question (General/OBC/SC/ST).

However, I would try my best to provide you with a suitable answer based on official data for the past few years, the total number of seats vacant, and the various departments available at the institution.

  • You can easily get enrolled in a better NIT like many of the older ones.
  • You can surely try to opt for other courses at the older NITs as it would be extremely beneficial for your career.
  • I would suggest that you do not lose hope after the seventh round of counselling.
  • There would be a special round to fill up vacant seats at the NITs and IIITs.
  • For this round, you are required to submit a fee of INR 1,000 along with the online application form on the CSAB portal.
  • Fill in your desired branch and colleges once more; vacant slots can be seen at the portal.

I am quite confident you'll receive the branch you want after the special round. You can refer to the cutoff details available on various websites to estimate the chances of your getting admission to one of the courses offered by the institution.

Should I take NIT Goa for Electrical and Electronics Engineering or GEC for Civil Engineering? I am interested in both.

AS
Ashu Sethiya Posted On : August 25th, 2021
B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Goa (2024)

Before diving into any conclusion, it is important that you understand the basic difference between B.Tech and B.E degrees. Following which, you have to clarify the doubts you have regarding both NIT Goa and Goa Engineering College.

  • If you weigh the general brand value that arrives with the NIT tag, you will then already be more exposed to the industrial demands and explore better opportunities at NIT.
  • However, there has been a genuine depreciation at Goa Engineering College.
  • You can possibly go out, looking for particular job offers after the completion of the B.E degree but you will obtain better placements by the college cell itself.
  • When talking about the faculty, there are several Ph.D graduates from most of the top institutions who have been teaching at NIT Goa.
  • The highest salary package was 16 LPA at NIT Goa.
  • On the other hand, at GEC, you might or might not secure placement.
  • Their highest package sometimes does not reach even up to 7 LPA.
Categories EEE at NIT Goa Civil at GEC
Course Fee 5.38 lakh 2.90 lakh
Highest CTC 16 LPA 6-7 LPA
Average CTC 6-8 LPA 3.5 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys, Bosch, Schneider Electric, etc. IBM, Wipro, TCS, Tata Steel, etc.

Therefore, it is suggested that you opt for NIT Goa, as it will provide you with better opportunities. They have an active placement cell, which not only helps with placements but also conducts seminars, internships and industrial visits.
