What is the recent GD-PI cutoff of IBS Hyderabad?

SS
Suraj Kumar Shrivastava Posted On : February 15th, 2023
MBA in Marketing, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

Firstly IBS Hyderabad does not reveal its ISBAT or GD-PI cutoffs. You are not informed about your individual scores let alone your GD-PI scores. The students who get shortlisted are sent an invitation letter for the GD-PI round. Once you have successfully completed the round and have been selected, GD-PI performance along with the college campus allotted to you. However, these marks serve no purpose of cutoffs and therefore should not be considered a general cutoff. Many candidates who got 98 percentile get selected while many with even 78 percentile. Their criteria is unpredictable and therefore no cutoff is fixed.

What is the MBA admissions process at IBS Hyderabad?

ST
Shubham Tiwari Posted On : February 24th, 2023

To successfully clear the first round, you must obtain the minimum score required by the entrance exams the college accepts, such as NMAT (150), CAT (60th percentile), and IBSAT.

If you are selected for the next round, the college will contact you via phone call and email to inform you about the GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) round. Your academic record, performance in the group discussion, and interview will be combined to determine your overall percentile.

Based on this percentile, you will be allotted a campus. If you are selected for IBS Hyderabad, you will receive a confirmation email after completing all of the aforementioned steps.

Which one is better, IPE Hyderabad or IBS Hyderabad?

SS
Shreya Sonam Posted On : February 18th, 2023
MBA in Master of Business Administration Degrees & PGDM in Finance, Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (Graduated 2015)

The fact that I don’t know anyone from IPE but many from IBS is enough to prove the brand name of IBS Hyderabad. To prove this further let’s compare the placement statistics of both the B Schools.

Particulars

IPE

IBS

Number of students placed

320

821

Highest CTC

INR 15 LPA

INR 21 LPA

Average CTC

INR 6.4 LPA

INR 8.71 LPA

Top Recruiters

HUL, TCS, PwC

Aditya Birla Group, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, TCS

From the table, we can see that IBS has an upper hand in almost all aspects when compared to IPE. Today, its alumni hold top positions in Management because of the institute's legacy and reputation. More than 58000 graduates work around the world. Owing to its strong alumni network and corporate relations, IBS Hyderabad offers better placement opportunities than IPE. IPE on the other hand has below-average placement statistics and offers very few opportunities in the corporate sector. IPE has much lower fees compared to IBS but the opportunities offered at INS are worth the high fees. The money you will be investing in IBS Hyderabad will reap you benefits throughout your lifetime which is hardly possible in the case of a mediocre B School like IPE

Except IBS Hyderabad, which IBS campus is good?

CP
Chinmay Paradkar Posted On : February 16th, 2023
BBA Economics and Finance & Marketing and Business Strategy, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (2019)

ICFAI or IBS has around 10 campuses all over India. IBS Hyderabad is the main and oldest campus and therefore has the best reputation. It’s highly coveted among IBS aspirants as it offers a kind of diversity that cannot be availed at any other branch. The companies that visit are from diverse sectors. Some of the major firms include JPMC, Moody’s, S&P, DE Shaw, BoFA, United Group, Big 4s, Cogni, and TCS. These companies help you kickstart your career in a variety of sectors.

Other than Hyderabad it’s the Mumbai campus that steals the limelight. The faculty is very good and the placement scenario is also not much different from Hyderabad.

  • If you want to pursue a career in Finance so go for IBS Mumbai
  • If you want to pursue a career in Marketing or in HR then go for IBS Pune or IBS Bangalore
  • If you want more companies in every field then IBS Gurgaon is best as its average free package is more than almost all IBS colleges except Hyderabad

I hope I have conveyed my point clearly.

Is ICFAI university (IBS hyderabad) a good university for engineering?

JP
Jeet PC Posted On : February 14th, 2023
Studied at B S High School

My sister is a CSE major who has been studying at ICFAI for 3 years. She says that the when she had joined the placement scenario was average but the recent batches have witnessed better placement opportunities. Let’s discuss further about ITS on the basis of the following factors

  • Faculty: The extremely qualified and experienced faculty is very few. The rest are average professors. The Electronics and Maths departments are said to have the best professors.
  • Research: The research culture at ITS is rather bleak. Lack of research oriented work is a crucial matter for students who are interested in research work.
  • Curriculum: The institute's curriculum model, syllabus, semester and internship patterns and even pedagogy Is almost similar to that of BITS-PILANI.
  • Campus: The institute is said to have the most beautiful campus in the city of Hyderabad. The ambiance around the campus is calm and serene making it perfect for studies. The serenity of the campus is a major reason why many students choose it over other colleges.
  • Diversity: The institute leaves no stones unturned while selecting students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

ITS is a very good option for those who are willing to study hard and make new friends in their journey.

What are some specializations in IBS Hyderabad?

AS
Anave Singh Posted On : February 18th, 2023
MBA in Marketing, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

IBS Hyderabad offers specialization in a variety of subjects. During the second year, i.e., 3rd and 4th semesters, you are required to choose 8 electives or subjects of your choice depending on your area of interest along with some compulsory electives. The electives are from a variety of specializations including

  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • HR

You are at complete freedom to choose any combination of electives up to 8. One can choose Finance with Marketing or Operations with HR or even all Finance electives. However at IBS, a major at Operations is rare as very few companies in this sector visit the campus. You get to choose 5 electives in the 3rd semester whereas 3 electives in the 4th semester.

One major point to note is that irrespective of whatever electives you choose, IBS Hyderabad offers a General MBA Degree only. Even if you have chosen all Finance electives, you get a general MBA degree and not MBA-Finance.

Which is better, IBS Hyderabad or IBS&M Pune?

KG
Krishna Gilda Posted On : February 16th, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Human Resources, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2014)

Both the colleges that you have targeted i.eIBS Hyderabad and IBS and M Pune offer specialization and experience in different leagues. So comparing them is not justifiable for you. You need to compare each of them with your own profile and career prospects rather than comparing them together. The kind of students both these colleges target is extreme opposites. So you need to conduct a 3-step analysis before you choose one

  1. Conduct thorough research on the pros and cons of both the B Schools
  2. Analyze your own expectations, profile, and career inclinations and match them with the required pros and cons you have listed down
  3. Choose the college that matches your requirements and you are most satisfied with

Usually, ISB&M prefers candidates with work experience and a fresher usually goes for IBS Hyderabad. This is because IBS Hyderabad offers limited opportunities to experienced professionals and is perfect for the nurturing of a fresher. The students undergo a personality development process throughout the 2 years which help them from developing from freshers to corporate-ready people.

Should I join Ibs Hyderabad by taking a loan of 15lacs, is it really worth it?

AS
Abhishek Singhal Posted On : February 18th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2000–present)

Whether taking a loan is a wise decision or not depends on an individual's situation. For instance, you take a loan and even get a package that is enough to repay the loan but you are placed at a remote location. Then the additional expenses become a hindrance. So one cannot say with certainty if it’s worth taking a loan or not as it’s a subjective issue.

Another thing that often strikes me is that if you get an admission after taking a huge loan you are under a certain pressure to land a high-paying job. Your entire energy and efforts are focused on getting placed at a good firm rather than acquiring the essential knowledge that will improve your profile and help you in the long run. Throughout the two years, your agenda is not to learn management skills and concepts but to score better so as to get placed. With placement being the only goal, you often fail to make the best use of the available opportunities.

Once the placement season starts your desperation is at its peak. In case you don’t get placed in the initial month your mental and physical health is affected. So the pressures stemming from a single loan is long-lasting and can devalue the experience of your MBA.

So either you need to learn to survive under extreme pressure or not join IBS Hyderabad after taking a loan.
