The University of Madras can be recommended for both regular as well as correspondence courses. The Department of Management Studies (DOMS) offers regular programs with experienced and qualified faculty.

The number of companies visiting the campus during the placement season is as high as 50. Some of them are City Union Bank, BNP Paribas, HCL, HFFC, TCS, etc. The placement percentage of DOMS is 96%.

The ROI is high as the department is run by the state government and the cost of education is very less compared to other institutions. The package offered is the same as the packages offered in other institutes like SSN, PSG, TSM, etc.

TANCET counseling is the only way you can complete your course at the University of Madras. The first 50 students who choose UNON DOMS will be in Regular and the rest will be in Self Supportive. The students are given a peek into the real-life scenario through the lectures conducted by many corporate leaders who visit the campus from time to time.

MBA Marketing & Finance, University of Madras (2018)

I have some close friends at the institute and based on the conversations I had with them, I will recommend, you go for it.

Academies:

  • MBA is offered both as a regular course and a correspondence course. The regular program in MBA is offered by the Department of Management Studies (DOMS), University of Madras.
  • The faculty here are knowledgeable and they have a stronghold over their area of expertise.
  • The department also calls many corporate leaders as guest lectures to help the students gain real-time insight into the world of business.

Placements:

Many of the alumni of the MBA program are well established in many MNCs in top roles. Every year more than 50 recruiters visit the campus to hire young talents. Some of them are Total Gas, TCS, HCL, Indiabulls, Union Bank, BNP Paribas, Indiamart, ITC, etc.

Return on Investment:

The university is a state university and thus you can expect a very low fee; around INR 25 thousand for the regular course and INR 50 thousand for the self-supportive course. The college has similar pay packages as that of the MBA courses offered by SSN School of Management, Thiagarajar School of Management, and PSG Institute of Management. This extremely low fee coupled with a decent placement gives the department a very high Return on Investment (RoI).

Mode of Acceptance:

The university accepts students to its MBA program through the TANCET counseling where the first 50 students to get admission in the department are in the regular program and the next 50 students will be in the self-supportive program.

Hostels:

The college also provides hostel facilities to its students, both boys as well as girls. The hostels are located just opposite of the Marina Beach and it offers a great view of the sea.

So yes considering all these things, an MBA at the University of Madras is advisable.
