IIM Bangalore will assess the relevance of your work experience. They will evaluate your day-to-day responsibilities, leadership qualities, and quantifiable contribution to company’s growth. You can expect questions regarding these during your interview.

Make a clear assessment of your role in the organization. Quantify your contributions, and list the ways you have helped your organization grow. This will help your present a clear picture during the interview.

I have a friend who is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and was able to give an insight into the selection procedure at the institute.

  • In IIM Bangalore, 8% weightage is given to the work experience of candidates, and it carries forward up to the final selection process of shortlisted candidates.
  • Only 36 months of working experience in any industry is recognized while shortlisting. Anything more than that is also recognized as an experience within that period only.
  • The relevance of the work experience of everyone is marked on a scale of 5 points, from 0.5 to 2.0. It is then multiplied by some factors.
  • In B-School interviews, interviewers assess the relevance of the industry experience of candidates based on certain factors only. Leadership qualities, quantifiable contribution to the organization, nature of supervisory duties, etc are some of the most important factors.

You need to make a proper self-assessment of your role in the industry. Which you need to present effectively during the interview.
