To grant admission, IIMs administer the Common Admission Test, also known as the CAT.

While the CAT score is the primary criterion, IIMs also use interviews, group discussions, and written ability tests to evaluate candidates after the CAT. Aside from that, they consider the candidate's past academic record as well as work experience.

So, to gain admission to IIM Bangalore, the procedure would be as follows:

Begin preparing for the CAT.
Fill out the CAT application form in the provided window.
Attend the CAT and achieve a high percentile. (Something like 99.5 or higher)
If you are selected, you must attend their GDPI round and perform well.

If everything goes well, you will receive an admission call from IIM B.

According to my brother's suggestion, IIM Bangalore not only stresses your percentile score in CAT but at the same time also takes into consideration your previous performances.

You should at least score more than 90% in classes X and XII and 80% in your graduation. You should have work experience of 2 to 3 years and meanwhile, prepare for the CAT exam.

Start preparing for your CAT exam. It will test your logical reasoning, mathematics, and verbal abilities.
You will require 8-10 months to prepare for the CAT exam.
After this, appear for mock CAT tests once in 15 days. Later increase it to twice or thrice a week. Analyze the mocks you have given. Check for mistakes and improve them.
After CAT, begin your preparation for WAT/PI.
In WAT, you will be given a topic based on recent trends. Practice to complete it in 20-25 mins.
Practice writing short essays regularly.
PI is conducted by IIM panelists. Prepare to introduce yourself in front of a mirror. Talk about your future goals too.
The panelists may also ask you about your family background, academics, work experience, etc.
Your interview will generally cover recent trends and issues, general knowledge, etc.
Improve your communication skills by practicing regularly.
Prepare yourself, so that you can determine if they are cross-questioning and answer them correctly without falling into the diversion created by them.
They might also shoot questions constantly, try answering them all, if not be confident enough to say you do not know.

Your final admission will be based on the scores from CAT, WAT, and PI. So prepare yourself and aim to score higher than 90 in each segment. If you have work experience, it will take precedence.
