Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a UGC approved educational body. Being a member of AIU, IGNOU offers distance learning courses to students from all over the country. Under this umbrella, IGNOU offers Bachelor's Degree Programs to thousands of students each year.

BDP Courses:

IGNOU offers 19 bachelor's degrees from 21 schools of disciplines.

• Bachelor of Arts (BA)

• Bachelor Degree in Science (B.Sc)

• Bachelor of Tourism (BTS)

• Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)

• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Preliminaries:

• Program Minimum Duration: 3 Years

• Program Maximum Duration: 6 Years

• Full Course Fee: INR 10,500

• Languages Available: English and Hindi

Admission:

• Aspirants are required to register through the online website.

• The university has two intake sessions: January and June.

• There is no age/location bar adhered to by the students.

• Aspirants are required to sit through the entrance exam of each designated course.

• There is no limit to the seat, hence admission is less competitive.

Choice Based Credit System:

• IGNOU has adapted the Choice Based Credit System, which offers flexibility to students in their selection of interest, discipline, and institutions.

• Students enrolled after July 2019 have been taking advantage of this system.

Infrastructure and Faculty:

• IGNOU runs through the collaborative effort of 800 faculty members, in addition to 33,000 independent academic counselors.

• The university operates through a chain of 57 regional offices, with 2667 learners support centers.

• University websites store books and study modules with easy accessibility to every student enrolled.

Placements:

• IGNOU has a Campus Placement Cell (CPC), that acts as an interface between the students and the recruiters. It conducts various Campus Placement Drives, Recruitment Drives, Job Fairs in the IGNOU Headquarters, Regional Centers, Study Centers, and Company premises.

• Companies such as British Telecom, HDFC Argo, Shoppers Stop, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra are amongst the latest batch of recruiters pooling talent from IGNOU’s class of graduates.

• Students also have the option to opt for off-campus placements.

IGNOU designs syllabus through sophisticated research of large-ranging topics, complying with the standard national requirement. The semesters are split as per the course demands, with the final semester dedicated to Final Project Work. The entire syllabus is split into blocks, with specific escalation into each academic requirement.
