SSC JE is lower than the entry-level position of IES. The designation of IES is Assistant Executive Engineers.

The Pay-Scale of both jobs is as follows.

Job

Pay Scale

Grade Pay

SSC JE Officer

9300-20200

4200

IES Officer

15600-39100

5400

So, IES wins for the salary perks.

  • IES gets an opportunity for promotion very frequently as per the time basis, but SSC JE does not have that frequent promotion opportunity.
  • To compare the work of both the two jobs, IES heads the Engineering department and formulate policies, and JE works on the execution of policies formed by IES.

Difference between SSC JE & IES: (on exam basis)

  • Every year 2500 JE and 400 IES are recruited. (approximately)
  • SSC JE is generally to recruit diploma engineers, and IES recruits engineering degree graduates.
  • SSC JE exam is a bit on the easier side, whereas the IES exam difficulty level is high. This can be concluded from the above recruitment numbers.

Exam Pattern:

SSC JE-

  • Paper-1: MCQs: General Awareness, General Knowledge, and General Engineering
  • Paper-2: Descriptive: General Engineering subjective
  • Total marks- 500

IES-

  • Stage-I: Objective: General Knowledge & Engineering Aptitude
  • Stage-II: Descriptive: Engineering Subjects
  • Stage-III: Personality test
  • Total marks- 700

Clearly, the winning job is of IES because of the above discussed lucrative perks.
