IBS Hyderabad is a decent B-School. It has a brand image and is well recognized in the industry. The institute offers good internships and placement opportunities. IBS Hyderabad placements 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 8 LPA. While the highest international CTC received by the students this year was INR 53 LPA.

IBS has a good faculty base. Most of the faculties have good corporate experience. The teaching methodology is case-study-based.

One drawback of IBS Hyderabad is the huge batch size. It’s difficult for students to get good placement opportunities.

I am friends with some people, who graduated from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad. Based on their experience, I will say it is an average management school at best. It has lost its reputation over the last few years.

  • In the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 7.97 LPA. While the total course fee is INR 16.02 lakhs. So, the ROI isn’t good.
  • The selection process for admission isn’t through. Even students with low percentile get interview calls.
  • The faculty base isn’t good. Most of the old faculty members joined IMT Hyderabad.
  • The huge batch size of around 1200+ makes things difficult during placements.

It’s better if you consider other options for pursuing an MBA degree.

IBS Hyderabad, (2019)

Don’t join IBS if you are serious about MBA. If you only want to add a degree to your CV and have the financial backing to do so, you can go for it. A friend of mine appeared for IBSAT and cleared the examination without any preparation. This makes you question the credibility of the institute. In reality, the IBSAT score does not matter. If you perform decently in the GD-PI round, you will be selected.

Here are some reasons why IBS is not a good option.

  • IBS gives admission to almost everyone who applies for it. In the Hyderabad campus, the student intake is 1400. Which is way too much for an MBA degree.
  • The placement record of IBS is not great. Only a few marketing students get a salary package of 15 LPA. For others, the average CTC is around 6-7 LPA. For the HR domain, the CTC offered is around 5 LPA.
  • Almost every year, around 450 remains unplaced. Which is unfortunate after spending 7 lakhs on the degree.
  • Calculate the ROI, before you decide to join the institute. Make an estimate of how many years it will take to get back your money’s worth.
  • If you have work experience of over 2 years, IBS is not a good opinion. They will probably place you in a startup with a lower salary.
  • The faculty at the institute is average.

Do you research well, before you decide to invest your money.
