To answer this question, let’s consider the latest MHRD Ranking (2020) of all the engineering institutes. These scores/ranks are calculated based on various parameters which are as follows.
MHRD Ranks and Scores 2020:
College/Institute |
Score |
Rank |
IIT Madras |
85.31 |
1 |
NIT Trichy |
55.92 |
24 |
VIT Vellore |
53.89 |
28 |
NIT Karnataka |
51.86 |
33 |
IIT Ropar |
50.92 |
39 |
IIEST Shibpur |
50.41 |
43 |
NIT Warangal |
49.82 |
46 |
IIT Patna |
48.09 |
54 |
BITS Ranchi |
44.15 |
85 |
From the data table given above, one thing is quite clear that though old IITs rank above IIEST Shibpur ( that is quite evident), the new IITs are still struggling to rank higher. And there are 31 NITs in India, out of which only 3 ranked above IIEST, Shibpur.
This is actually a very small margin. IIEST Shibpur stands equal to almost all the NITs. In the race to become the best, it requires a lot of effort and dedication. It is not an overnight jump, the institute must work upon it.
