Changing a branch at MNNIT Allahabad is actually a tough task to fulfill, after coming to college and adjusting to the college environment. Students need to get high margin scores to change streams, which depends upon the choice of the stream he/she tries to opt for. The points below give some insights into the difficulty of stream change in MNNIT Allahabad.

For students who want to go to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), the required margin is generally above 9 SPI, which is quite high. On the other hand, there are barely 2-4 seats in CSE and ECE for stream change entries.
Students think that after having cleared such difficult all-India entrance exams, it is easy to score a high score in semesters. But, this notion is not at all correct. Living, adjusting, and enjoying the college environment takes a certain amount of time in the first semester and so it becomes almost impossible to score 9+ SPI.
Subjects like Chemistry, which is usually taught by old faculties, make it difficult to score 9+ in the first semester.
Lower branches like Electrical Engineering (EE) and Chemical Engineering usually have a cut-off margin of 8-8.5, and so it becomes easier to switch to those.

Therefore, it is generally quite difficult to change streams, especially to streams like CSE and ECE.
