Should I join the XIMB over new or baby IIMs?
You should join XIMB. Compared to new IIMs, XIMB offers better ROI. It is ahead in terms of resources, facilities and infrastructure too. According to XIMB placements 2022 highlights, the top 50% of students get placed with an average package of INR 20 LPA.
XIMB has a strong brand presence in industry. Owing to its 35+ existence, XIMB has a huge alumni network. So, the networking opportunities are pretty good.

You should prefer the new IIMs. It would have been easier to answer the question if you mentioned the colleges. Because IIMs are not the brand in the industry, but IIM Ahmedabad is. So, college really matters.
It is clear that most of the new IIMs are way better than the XIMB. Here are some of the reasons why the new IIMs are better than XIMB.
- The increased batch strength is a point of disadvantage for XIMB.
- Due to 50% reservation for Odia students, others lack a chance to get into XIMB.
- IIMs have low fees as compared to XIMB which is the major reason now why students choose IIMs over XIMB.
- The type of companies visiting both new IIMs and XIMB are quite similar then why would spend more money to get into XIMB.
Coming on to baby IIMs, they lack a good profile and are not even allowed to participate in corporate competition. So, as of now, baby IIMs is a “No” but some of the baby IIMs are performing really well like IIM Nagpur and Amritsar. So, in the future, they might get into the league of better colleges.
