There are several IIITs in different levels of private and government collaborations. Due to this the fee structure is different for different IIITs. The types of IIITs in the country and their level of fees are listed below.

  • 5 IIITs which are fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD, currently known as Ministry of Education), and have a lower fee structure than all other IIITs.
  • Some IIITs are developed in a public-private partnership. These have a slightly higher fee structure, which is around 6-7 thousand per semester.
  • IIIT Naya Raipur is a private college, with a small number of funds from the Government of India. This institute provides lots of scholarships to students. Though the fee structure for this institute is higher, students getting a proper scholarship can have fees as low as 15-20 thousand per semester.

These are the several types of IIITs with a varying public-private stake, and so, different levels of fee structure. Considering the factors of placement, curriculum, infrastructure, facilities, faculty, etc, an order of preference can be made. This order of preference is stated below.

IIIT Allahabad > IIIT Gwalior > IIIT Jabalpur > IIIT Kancheepuram > IIIT Kurnool > IIIT Lucknow > IIIT Trichy > IIIT Vadodara > IIIT Kota > IIIT Sricity > IIIT Naya Raipur > IIIT Guwahati > IIIT Kalyani > IIIT Pune > IIIT Nagpur > IIIT Sonepat > IIIT Bhopal > IIIT Surat > IIIT Manipur > IIIT Dharwad > IIIT Kottayam > IIIT Una > IIIT Ranchi > IIIT Bhagalpur.

This is an order based on some personal interest. The order of preference of IIIT may vary, based on the candidate’s point of view.
