My rank is 57882. Can I get in any NIT or IIIT in a CSAB special round in the CAT?

My sister also got a rank of around 57882. Yes, you can secure a seat in some NIT or IIIT in the spot counseling rounds. There are several factors that may affect the chances of admission in some NIT or IIIT for such a lower rank. These include - 

• In some years, the spot counseling is delayed due to certain reasons by the authority. 
• There are chances for students with lower ranks. But by the time the counseling ends, they take admission in government and private institutes.
• It is not a great expense, just Rs. 1000 for the spot counseling. It is quite affordable for students.
• The chances of getting a seat in IIITs and NITs are absolutely based on luck and so, students should try theirs. 
• But, students should carefully fill the choices with colleges they actually want to study.

Therefore, there are chances for students with low ranks in spot rounds to get a seat in institutes like NIT Nagaland, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Srinagar, etc.
