Alan Plumtree Graduate Scholarship in Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering

The Alun Plumtree Graduate Scholarship in Mechanical and Mechatronics is funded by Dr. Alan Pluntree. It is offered to graduate students at the University of Waterloo. The scholarship applies to students pursuing Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering and registered in the faculty of engineering.

The student who has scholastic excellence in Fluid Mechanics and interested in its research-based application will be considered.

To be eligible, students must hold the Ontario Graduate Scholarship or Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology.

Student Award

The scholarship is given to only one student.

Award Value for Alun Plumtree Graduate Scholarship in Mechanical and Mechatronics

The award value will be decided upon income generated through funds. The total value is 20,000 USD.

  • 5000 USD will be given from endowment income.
  • The University of Waterloo will contribute 5000 USD in total funding.
  • The remaining amount will be contributed by the Ontario Graduate Scholarship or Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology in a 2:1 ratio.

However, if the university fails to find a match or the funding required, the scholarship will be given out as a normal graduate scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

To secure the scholarship, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria listed below:

  • Must be pursuing graduation in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering
    • Must be registered in the faculty of engineering
  • Must bear academic excellence (minimum 80% )
    • Must have an interest in research in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering and its application.
  • Must also hold Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII GSST)

Students from countries like India, the USA, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Bangladesh Canada, Germany, Malaysia, etc, admitted at the University of Waterloo are eligible.
