Chancellor's Masters Scholarships

Chancellor’s Masters Scholarships are presented to students who want to pursue their master’s studies at the University of Sussex.  Both domestic and international students at the University of Sussex are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

  • Under Chancellor’s Masters Scholarships, 100 scholarships are offered to the students. 
  • The scholarship amount of  £3,000 is awarded to students to be used as tuition fees reduction.
  • Students have to secure a place in the master’s programs at the university to be eligible.

A separate application form must be completed on the official website of the university to be considered for the Chancellor's Masters Scholarships. The application deadline for the same is August 01, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who wish to obtain Chancellor's Masters Scholarships must fulfill eligibility requirements given below:

  • Must hold or achieve a First class Bachelor’s degree from one of the UK Universities.
  • Must have applied for the full-time master’s program at the University of Sussex.

However, students who will pursue the following courses are not eligible for the scholarship.

  • Postgraduate diplomas (including CPE Common Professional Examination)
  • Corruption, Law and Governance LLM (delivered in Qatar)
  • Development Studies MA
  • Globalization, Business and Development MA
  • Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
  • Power, Participation and Social Change MA
  • Poverty and Development MA
  • Masters degrees in Social Work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
  • PGCE courses
  • Early Years in Education MA
  • Schools Direct teaching course
  • Any Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. those receiving ESRC 1+3 funding)

Application Process

Applicants must have secured have admission at the University of Sussex to be eligible for the scholarship. An external application form has to be completed by the applicants to secure the Chancellor's Masters Scholarships.

They must apply on the official link to the University of Sussex website. Complete the application form with all required information and documents.

Applications must be completed before August 01, 2023, to be considered for the scholarships.


Selection Process

The selection process for the scholarship is completely based on the fulfillment of the student’s eligibility criteria and academics.

  • Priority will be given to those students who have not completed their post-graduation earlier.
  • Applicants will be notified about the outcome of their scholarship application by email.

Recipients of the Chancellor's Masters Scholarships will get an award of £3,000 that can be used against tuition fees.


Grant Details

Chancellor's Masters Scholarships are offered to students who are enrolled in the Master's Program at the University of Sussex.

The scholarship amount of £3,000 will help students in the reduction of their tuition fees. Only 100 scholarships are available, students are advised to apply at the earliest.

Terms and Conditions for the Chancellor's Masters Scholarships

  • Students holding any other scholarship, cannot apply for this scholarship.
  • Students who have studied in the UK university campus or Partner College are not eligible.
