MSU International Tuition Grant

Funded by the university, the MSU International Tuition Grants offers a partial-fee waiver grant to international students with great academic intellect. The scholarship program is designed for undergraduate students at Michigan State University.

  • The scholarship grant covers 25,000 USD anually .
  • It is offered for eight semesters continuously if the student remains in good academic performance every semester.
  • Preference will be given to students who apply to MSU by December 01 and who submit an ACT or SAT score.
  • Students applying after December 01 may also qualify as funds are available.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the MSU International Tuition Grant, one must meet the following requirements:

  • International fee-paying student
  • Enrolling in Michigan State University for the semester that the scholarship is awarded.
    • limited to up to 8 semesters of enrollment as an undergraduate.
  • Great academic record in their class XII with minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0.
  • Submission of SAT/ACT scores are not mandatory but recommended.
    • Composite ACT: 23-29
    • Total SAT: 1110-1280

To renew the scholarship, recipients need to complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the scholarship.

Applicants can apply online for MSU International Tuition Grant. The deadline to apply for the MSU International Tuition Grant is December 1.

Applicants have to complete the application form along with following documents

  • Statement of Purpose
  • Official Transcript
  • Academic Transcript
  • Test Certificates (SAT/ACT, IELTS/TOEFL/PEARSON)

Note 1: Do not send any other document like letters of recommendation, photographs, portfolios, or additional personal essays.

Note 2: Preference will be given to students who apply to MSU by December 1. Students applying after December 1 may also qualify as funds are available.


Selection Process

All the applications are reviewed by the selection committee at Michigan State University. Factors considered while selection process are:

  • Academic record in high school
  • Strength and quality of the curriculum
  • Class performance and rank
  • SAT/ACT scores
  • English language proficiency
  • Leadership skills, talents, conduct, and diversity of experience

The final decision is made by the selection committee at Michigan State University. Winners are notified via email.


Grant Details

MSU International tuition grant is offered to international students who have secured admission at MSU. Limited no. of grants worth 15,000 USD to 25,000 USD is given to the recipients.

This Scholarship depends on the academic, extracurricular activities and other performance of students.

Terms And Conditions for MSU International Tuition Grant

  • The award is contingent upon the student maintaining international residency for tuition purposes.
  • Any change in residency may impact on eligibility of award
  • The award may not be put off for a subsequent semester of initial enrollment.
  • MSU reserves the right to adjust award with other MSU scholarship
  • If the student is unable to complete or enroll in the minimum credit load then prior approval must be given to Assistant Director of Admissions(ADA) to continue receiving the scholarship money.
  • If the enrollment at MSU is disrupted by any student (excluding summer semester) then he/she must notify in writing to ADA and request an official leave of absence from the university.

The student must apply before December 01. This Scholarship is not available to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or transfer students.
