Melbourne Asian Development Bank- Japan Scholarship at the University of Melbourne is offered to four international students. The ADB-JS is applicable to various master programs at the university.

  • Apart from a 100% tuition fee waiver, recipients get a living allowance of AUD 30,600.
  • The scholarship is applicable for selection masters programs at the University of Melbourne.
  • Eligible applicants must be below the age of 35 years.
  • The selected four students are informed of the decision in the month of January.

Benefits

  • Full tuition fee waiver for the normal duration of a master’s by coursework degree up to a maximum of two years.
  • In addition to the fee waiver a living allowance of $15,300 paid yearly in fortnightly installments.
  • Scholarship holders will get a return economy airfare ticket to Melbourne and again back to home country at the completion of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship will provide a contribution towards the cost of study.
  • Health cover payment of Overseas Student.

Eligibility Criteria

Melbourne Asian Development Bank- Japan Scholarship requires applicants to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must have received an unconditional offer by October 31, for commencement in the following year.
  • Must have applied for an eligible master’s program at the University of Melbourne
  • Must have at least two years of work experience as a full-time professional.
  • Must be aged 35 years or under at the time of assessment.
    • In exceptional cases, the maximum age limit is 45 years old.
  • Must NOT have completed a master’s degree or previously studied at an institution outside the home country.
  • Must agree to return to the home country post completion of the program.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in English language, oral and written both.

Application Process

Applicants must first apply for an eligible postgraduate degree program followed by an online application of the Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship. Applicable study areas for this scholarship are:

  • Agriculture, Animal studies, Food science, and veterinary science.
  • Commerce, economics, and management.
  • Engineering.
  • Medicine, dentistry, health, and welfare.

Note: Students need to separately apply for the scholarship at least 6 months before they plan to apply for a postgraduate degree course.

  • The completed ADB - JSP information sheet.
  • Academic Transcripts.
  • Past Academic Degree Certificates.
  • Proof of work experience.
  • Proof of family income (Parents/Spouse).
  • Copy of Passport.
  • Scorecard of English Language Proficiency test.

Selection Process

Eligible candidates of the Melbourne Asian Development Bank- Japan Scholarship are shortlisted by the officials of the University of Melbourne. The shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the university through email in November or December with a request to provide additional information and documentation.

Then, the names of the shortlisted candidates are sent to the Asian Development Bank. The final decision on the applicants is taken by them only. Recipients will be informed of the result through email in January.

Both the university and the Asian Development bank shortlist and finalize applicants on the basis of academic merit and personal attributes (LOR and Essay)
