Sydney Business School’s International Scholarships is awarded to the students starting their undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Sydney. These scholarships are awarded to support international students with their studies in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria

You must:

  • be an international student
  • be commencing a bachelor's or master's by coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School in the next semester of study (excluding MBA, MBA Leadership and Enterprise, Executive MBA, and Master of Management (CEMS))
  • receive an unconditional offer of admission by the relevant close date for applicants, or be an unconditional offer holder of exceptional merit for automatic consideration

Note: If you are commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney, you are eligible if you have not previously held this scholarship. If applying with credit from partner institutions, your credit must not exceed 48 credit points for a bachelor's degree, or 24 credit points for a master's degree.

The scholarships do not apply to Australian and New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents


Application Process

To apply for Business School’s International Scholarships, applicants do not require a separate application. All applicants who have completed their admission process at the University of Sydney and have received an unconditional admission offer will be considered for a scholarship.

Apply by the following dates to be considered per round. The closing date for each round is as follows:

Round 1 21 November 2022
Round 2 10 January 2023
Round 3 30 January 2023

Selection Process

Sydney Business School’s International Scholarships are awarded to students based on factors such as:

  • Academic merit
  • Nomination of a scholarship committee

The scholarship committee consists of two senior academic nominees of the Dean of the University. Since the scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis, applicants are advised to complete their admission applications to the Business School early.


Grant Details

Business School’s International Scholarships is an award given out by the University of Sydney Business School, for the students who will be pursuing their undergraduate or graduate program in business.

Three award amounts will be awarded to students based on ranking provided:

  1. AUD 10,000 payable for one semester
  2. AUD 5,000 payable for one semester

Total number of scholarships awarded would be decided by the selection committee. Usually, 100 scholarships are awarded. The award winner should accept the award before the relevant deadline date associated with their award. The payment of the award would be made after the census date of each semester.

Q.When will I find out if I have been successful in receiving a Business School International Scholarship?

Ans : Under the application route, offers will be made 2-3 weeks after the close of the relevant round.

For those receiving automatic offers, scholarship offer will be made within five working days of receiving an unconditional offer of admission.

Q. What if I don't have an Australian bank account?

Ans : You do not need to have an Australian bank account as the scholarship is paid into your fee account. 

Q. What happens if I do not accept the scholarship by the acceptance deadline?

Ans: Offers not accepted by the nominated deadline will lapse. If exceptional circumstances will prevent you accepting the offer by the deadline, you should request an extension outlining your circumstances and the extra time required.
