KTH Scholarship Eligibility, Application Process and Selection Criteria

KTH Scholarship

Every year, 30 incoming students are offered financial support under the KTH Scholarship program. It focuses on sustainable development, encouraging KTH Royal Institute of Technology students to contribute towards a sustainable society.

  • KTH Scholarship covers the tuition of the recipient’s one-year or two-year master’s program.
  • Applications for KTH Scholarship must be submitted before January 16.
  • Securing admission at KTH Royal Institute of Technology must be each applicant’s first priority.
  • To receive the KTH grant in the second year, the academic results for the first year are considered.

Applicants must note that the KTH Scholarship only covers the tuition cost of the chosen masters’ program. It does not cover an applicant’s cost of living in Sweden.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for KTH Scholarship program, applicants must fulfill the requirements mentioned below:

  • An international fee-paying student enrolling for a Master’s program.
  • Applying for KTH as the first priority.

Applicants must note that KTH Scholarship is NOT available for Erasmus Mundus and EIT program.


Application Process

The is no separate application form required for KTH Scholarship. The university officials evaluate the eligible scholarship applicants on the basis of their admission applications to KTH.

Applications for the KTH admissions and scholarship must be submitted before January 15, allowing international students ample time to obtain their student visa to study in Sweden.


Selection Process

As mentioned earlier, the selection process for KTH Scholarship takes place along with the admission procedure.

The recipients of the KTH Scholarship are shortlisted and selected on the following basis:

  • Grades of GPA or equivalent
  • Ranking of the university from where the applicant has received a bachelor’s degree
  • A letter stating the applicant's motivation, relevant work experience, and extra-curricular activities.
  • A statement demonstrating how an applicant will contribute to the sustainable development aim with a master’s degree from KTH.

The selection committee will offer 30 students an opportunity to study in Sweden without much financial burden.


Grant Details

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is one of the biggest and oldest universities in Sweden. KTH Scholarship grants assistance to 30 students towards tuition fees in the first and second years. In order to be eligible for a grant in the second year, the academic results for the first year must be satisfactory.

One of the key features of the KTH Scholarship is that applicants are not asked to submit any additional application form. Selections are done on the basis of an eligible applicant’s admission application.
