NUI Postgraduate Merit Scholarship

The National University of Ireland,(NUI) offers Postgraduate Merit Scholarship as a full or partial waiver of tuition fees. The scholarship is applicable to international students who wish to pursue any postgraduate program offered by NUI.

  • The applicant must confirm his/her admission at NUI by paying the confirming deposit.
  • It makes the applicant eligible to be considered for the scholarship.
  • Students seeking admission to postgraduate research programs are not considered.
  • The scholarship amount of €1,000 up to 50% tuition fee waivers for those commencing study at University of Galway in September 2022.   
  • Applicants must meet all entry and academic requirements to be considered.

The deadline to apply for admission at NUI is September 2022 and to confirm the offer by paying the deposit is March 31,2022.

For 2023-2024, announcements are yet to be announced.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for NUI Postgraduate Merit Scholarship, applicants must meet eligibility requirements listed below:

  • Must have completed the UG degree and seeking admission to a PG degree at NUI, Galway.
  • Must be an international student.
  • Must meet all admission requirements at NUI for the course opted to study.
  • Must maintain good Academic Records and provide proof of English Language Proficiency test.

Academic Record Transcripts of academic record including high school, XII standard and the Undergraduate degree preferably of 4 years with GPA averaging around 3-4 or equivalent.
English Proficiency Tests Scores IELTS: overall 6.5;
TOEFL (iBT): 92
Additional requirements Statement of Purpose; Evidence of financial capacity to fund the study and living expenses in Ireland.

NOTE : 

Scholarships applicants are assessed based on academic merit. In addition, applicants will be asked to submit a Personal Scholarship Statement. (500 words maximum) covering the following points: 

  • Your interest in coming to University of Galway.
  • Why you believe you are a good candidate for this scholarship.
  •  How will you promote links with University of Galway, both during your scholarship tenure and as alumni?

Application Process

Applicants must secure admission at NUI to be eligible for the scholarship. Once the admission offer is made, applicants must accept it with some acceptance deposit to the university.

No email application is required for NUI Postgraduate Merit Scholarship, applicants will be automatically assessed by the university for the same.

Deadline

Round 1: Opened in February; open to all students that have accepted their offer on/before 28th March - round 1 awards closed on Thursday 31st March.  

Round 2: Opend on Friday 1st April and round 2 awards closed on Friday June 17th.  


Selection Process

The selection for the NUI Postgraduate Merit Scholarship is based on the merit of the applicants.

Successful candidates will be notified via e-mail and required to confirm their acceptance via return e-mail.

Assessment Process

Round 1: Announcements will be made in early April. 

Round 2: Announcements will be made in July.   


Grant Details

NUI Postgraduate Merit Scholarship to International applicants who wish to study full-time postgraduate taught a course at the National University of Ireland.

  • After confirming the offer, the applicant automatically gets registered for the consideration of this scholarship.
  • The scholarship award is €1,000 up to 50% tuition fee waivers
