University of Twente Holland Scholarship is available for all the excellent international students outside the European Economic Area (the EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) who wish to study in the Netherlands’ highly ranked university. The scholarship is awarded to students who want to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses at the university.

  • The applications for the scholarship are accepted in two rounds-
    • Round 1- February 1, 2023
    • Round 2- May 1, 2023
  • There are three possible outcomes of the University of Twente Holland Scholarship application: Accepted, Stand-by List, and Rejected.
    • A personal email would be sent to candidates about the final result.
  • Scholarship selections are based on the applicant’s academic performance in the previous educational qualification.
  • An award amount of  5,000 EUR is awarded for the first year of studies of the chosen program.

Eligibility Criteria

The University of Twente Holland Scholarship is open for all the academically strong international students outside the EU/ EEA who wish to pursue their bachelor’s or master’s degree in the Netherlands at the University of Twente.

The applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the scholarship program

  • Chosen UT undergraduate or graduate program must be beginning in the academic year 2021/2022.
  • Must not have a degree from an education facility in the Netherlands.
  • Fulfilled the English language proficiency requirements:
    • TOEFL- iBT: 90 (subscore of 20 in speaking)
    • IELTS: 6.5 (subscore of 6.0 in speaking)
  • Obtained an excellent record in academics with a CGPA of 7.5(out of 10).
  • Provisionally admitted to one of the qualifying degree programs at the University of Twente.
  • Must not be eligible for Dutch study grant.

The applicants for the University of Twente Holland Scholarships need to comply with the conditions necessary for obtaining a student visa to the Netherlands.


Application Process

The applicants can apply for the Holland Scholarship as soon as they receive conditional admission to the University of Twente in an eligible study program. The application for the scholarship can be submitted via the Osiris platform which will ensure that all the details are correctly submitted to the faculty of the study program.

The various requirements involved in the application process of University of Twente Holland Scholarship are given below:

  • Secondary School/ Diploma transcript of records
  • Additional Degree transcripts (if any)
  • Proof of proficiency in the English language (IELTS/ TOEFL/CAE test scores)
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Motivation Letter

The applications for the scholarship are accepted in 2 rounds. The applications for round 1 open in October and close in February. While for round 2, the application process starts in February and ends in May. If an application gets rejected in round 1, it will not be considered in round 2 as well.


Selection Process

The University of Twente Holland Scholarship is awarded based on merit. The assessment of the scholarship application is done in three steps:

  • First, the application is checked for all the information required for the assessment of the application of scholarship. If any information is required further, the applicants are contacted directly to seek the information.
  • Next, the provided information is used to decide whether the applicant can be considered for the scholarship.
  • Finally, the Selection Committee assesses the application.

After the scholarship is assessed by the selection committee, the results are published in a month.

The criteria for selection depend upon factors like the academic background of the applicant, motivation behind joining the course, career goals, feasibility of the financial plan, etc. A personal email is sent to the recipient. There are three possible outcomes- Accepted, Stand-by list and Rejected. All the standby or rejected applicants are informed by July 1.


Grant Details

University of Twente Holland Scholarship is made available by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture & Science, and the University of Twente to students with good academic excellence. All international students outside of the EU/ EEA countries who want to study in the Netherlands are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

The University of Twente students who want to study, do research or an internship outside the EEA are eligible for the UTHolland Scholarship. Students pursuing either undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Twente are eligible for the scholarship. The university suggests the applicants complete their scholarship application at least two months before their departure.

Since the University of Twente Holland Scholarship is awarded by the Dutch government and the university, any changes with the recipient’s nationality, residence permit, possible student financial support, etc. must be notified to the university as soon as possible.
