Bangor University International Scholarships

The Bangor University International Scholarships, awarded by the university, are intended for the overseas students commencing any 300+ undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs. With no separate scholarship form, all international students will be considered for these scholarships at Bangor University in the UK.

  • 2020 international scholarships are applicable for degree courses commencing in September 2020 and January 2021.
  • Bangor University International Scholarships are renewable for UG and research students if they secure at least 50% in Year 1 and Year II.
  • Scholarships are valid only for students who choose to study in the UK by opting for Bangor’s full-time on-campus program.
  • First-time recipients will be awarded an award amount up to GBP 3,000 (USD 3743).
  • Half scholarship amount must be used for fee payment and the remaining amount must be used to cover living expenses.

Selection decisions are made by the committee comprising of experienced professors and Bangor’s operating staff. The decisions are final and cannot be challenged by the applicants.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants of Bangor University International Scholarships must be curious as to what are its requirements. To their relief, the university has not set any stringent eligibility criteria.

Keeping in mind the queries of the prospective applicants, we have mentioned a few details related to the eligibility for the scholarships:

  • Citizenship: International students belonging to countries outside the UK/EU.
  • Study-level: No restrictions; open to students beginning an undergraduate, postgraduate, or Ph.D. in Bangor University.
  • Program/Discipline: Valid for all programs available for international students.
  • Mode of Instruction: Candidates must be planning to pursue full-time on-campus programs.

Bangor University International scholarships are renewable for the II year and III year UG students if they achieve an average of 50% or higher in the I year and II year respectively. Students pursuing research/ Ph.D. programs who progress into the next year of their program can also get their scholarship renewed.


Application Process

There is no separate application required for Bangor University International Scholarships. The application for admission to the university itself works as a scholarship application.

  • Students applying for admission in the September 2023 intake and January 2024 intake can avail of this scholarship.
  • Students can apply for admission through UCAS or the university’s own application portal.

As a part of the admission process to Bangor University, students will be required to submit a few supporting documents. These documents will be evaluated carefully for scholarship purposes as well. Some of the important student supporting documentation are mentioned below:

  • Personal Statement/SOP
  • Academic Transcripts
  • Tests are taken to study in the UK such as TOEFL, GMAT, etc.
  • References/LORs
  • Work experience/portfolio/resume

Applicants are encouraged to submit their admission applications at the earliest, not just for admission but for the scholarships as well.


Selection Process

As mentioned in the application process, selection decisions for the Bangor University International Scholarships will be based on the applicant’s admission application to the university. The evaluating committee will thoroughly review the submitted applications. Final decisions will be based on the following elements:

  • Experience and skillset
  • Overall academic performance
  • Course choice
  • Academic references

Recipients of international scholarships will be notified along with the Offer Letter. However, international students must remember that offer of admission is not the confirmation of admission.


Grant Details

Offered to international students beginning studies in the UK and at the university, Bangor University International scholarships have varying benefits for UG, PG, and research students. The scholarship award amount is distributed in two parts

  • Tuition fee reduction for the chosen program
  • Accommodation and other living expenses

Since the Bangor University International scholarships will help several incoming students, the committee has established a few terms and conditions for the scholarship applicants and recipients. The same are mentioned below:

  • Scholarship amount must be used as per the guidelines. The amount awarded to cover expenses of accommodation and stay in UK must not be used for tuition and fees.
  • Accepted students who do not take on-campus accommodation will NOT BE ELIGIBLE for the remaining half of the scholarship award.
    • In an exceptional condition in case university accommodation proves to be unsuitable for the student.
  • Recipients who are chosen for the scholarship award shall become ambassadors for the scholarship and contribute positively towards its promotion as a student as well as alumni.
