Sussex India Scholarship

The Sussex India Scholarships are offered to Indian students commencing postgraduate-level programs at the University of Sussex. Under this scheme, the university offers an unlimited number of scholarships to eligible applicants. 

Recipients of the Sussex India Scholarship program are rewarded with a tuition fee reduction. Selections are based on the applicant’s academic ability, financial requirements, and other eligibility criteria listed by the university. 

Sussex India Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver

As mentioned earlier, selected students get a reduction in the annual fee up to 3000 USD. Here is a comparison between the original Tuition Fee and the fee for Sussex India Scholarship recipients:

Prospective applicants must note that the scholarship amount is only applicable to the tuition fee. All the other expenses like accommodation cost, living cost (meals, transportation, etc), books and supplies have to be incurred by the applicant only. 

Moreover, recipients are not allowed to apply for any scholarships at the University of Sussex or external scholarships to study in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

Foremostley, to be eligible for the Sussex India Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in an eligible PG program at the University of Sussex.

Students will be shortlisted for the scholarship on the basis of the eligibility criteria as defined by the university. 

The eligibility criteria established by the University of Sussex is mentioned below:

  • Nationality: Indian or permanently domiciled in India.
    • Proof of residency is a must.
  • Financial Sufficiency: Should be a self-financing student and should be able to show financial support equal to the cost of attendance. 
  • The student should have accepted an offer for a Masters’s course at the University of Sussex,starting september 2023

There are a few factors due to which the candidates are considered ineligible for the Sussex India Scholarship, have a look:

  • Students who have the benefit of any other Sussex scholarship like the Chancellors International Scholarship.
  • Students going to pursue any of the mentioned courses will not be considered eligible for the scholarship:
    • Postgraduate diplomas 
    • Corruption, Law and Governance LLM
    • MA(Development Studies, Globalization, Early years in Education, Business and Development, Development and Public Policy, Governance, Poverty and Development, Power, Participation and Social Change)
    • PGCE course and a Masters’s degree in Social Work.
  • Students with an offer to study in the University of Sussex Business School will be able to combine this award with the Business School International Masters Award (2023). Students with an offer to study in the School of Engineering & Informatics will be able to combine this award with the Engineering & Informatics International Masters Award (2023).

Application Process

  • Register your interest in the scholarship via PG Apply when you accept our offer of a place on an eligible Masters course.  If you have applied via one of our overseas representatives, you will need to ask them to do this on your behalf. You will only be able to accept one University of Sussex scholarship.
  • You must declare your interest in the scholarship via PG Apply before you register on your Masters degree. Information about the scholarship will be included in your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Study) for your visa application, when it is produced. If the scholarship information is not showing on your CAS or you want to register for the scholarship after the CAS has been created, please contact Admissions: pg.applicants@sussex.ac.uk.

Selection Process

After the submission of the Sussex India Scholarship application form, the scholarship evaluation panel reviews each application comprehensively. 

While the applicant’s academic records and financial need will play a crucial role, other factors are considered at the time of selection. Some of these factors are:

  • Applicant’s chosen program
  • Financial stability
  • Nationality
  • Acceptance of admission offer

Also, the recipient must be commencing the master’s program for the same session for which the scholarship is offered.

Each year, applications for the Sussex India Scholarship are invited, along with the Admissions in Masters programs. Self-financing Indian students with outstanding academic records can apply for this scholarship program.
