Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarship
Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarship are offered to the national and international undergraduate students pursuing an engineering course at the University of Calgary. Three scholarships are offered annually to the continuing undergraduate students at the Schulich School of Engineering.
- Available to all the national and international students pursuing UG engineering courses at the University of Calgary.
- Amount donated by Estate of Florica Nitescu.
- Amount up to 4,100 CAD will be offered to the students entering the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of their studying.
The Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarship is available for applicants who want to study in Canada at the Schulich School of Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria
The Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarship will be offered to the continuing undergraduate students meeting the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be enrolled in a UG engineering course at the University of Calgary.
- Can hold any citizenship or residency.
- Must be entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study.
- Available for full-time students only.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 in previous fall and winter semesters.
- Must complete a minimum of 24 units of academic coursework
The awards will be granted to those eligible continuing undergraduate students in the Schulich School of Engineering who meet the academic skills. Spring and Summer courses are not used in the calculation of the scholarship.
Application Process
The University of Calgary students who want to apply for the Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarship are required to complete their scholarship application. The basic steps involved in applying for the scholarship are:
- Access the Student Center in the myUofC portal.
- Click on the “My Financials” page.
- Click on “Apply for Undergraduate Award”
- Ensure that the popups are enabled to allow the pages to display.
- A popup window will open with the details regarding the applications open and the applications unavailable.

Selection Process
The selection for the Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarship is based solely on the academic merit of the student. The scholarship is offered annually to the continuing students at the University of Calgary.
The notification for the scholarship is sent to the selected candidates around the month of November.
Grant Details
Trajan and Florica Nitescu Scholarships are partially funded scholarships aimed at encouraging students for their studies in Canada at UCalgary. The scholarship will help students to stay focused on achieving their academic goals while enjoying their studies at the university.
- Award value up to 4,100 CAD is awarded.
- Continuing students of UG engineering course will get the funding.
- Students entering the first year of an after-degree program are not permitted to apply to these awards.
These scholarships were introduced by Mrs. Florica Nitescu in memory of her husband Trajan & are funded by Estate of Florica Nitescu.
