Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Scholarship is presented to international students who wish to pursue higher education in Germany. The scholarship is offered to masters, postgraduate and Ph.D. students who want to study in Germany.

  • The amount of scholarship varies for both categories of students.
    • For Master or Post-graduate Students: Monthly stipend of 850 EUR for 2 years.
    • For Doctoral or Ph.D. Students: Monthly stipend of 1,200 EUR for 3 years.
  • Students must have offered a place at one of the partner universities or colleges.
  • They must provide proof of German Language Proficiency. 
  • A separate application form has to be submitted by the candidates to be eligible for the scholarship.

The KAS Scholarship not only provides financial assistance to its recipients but also mentors them. The KAS community is always connected to its alumni and includes them in every major seminar sponsored by them.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria listed below to secure Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship :

  • International students who wish to study in Germany can apply.
  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree before applying.
  • Must pursue masters or Ph.D. programs from any of the KAS partner universities in Germany.
  • Candidate should not be more than 30 years of age while applying.
  • German Language Proficiency of B2 level is a must.
  • The applicant should be actively engaged in voluntary work
  • Must possess a broad general education and distinct interest in political issues,
  • Must have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights,
  • Should be open to developing their personal points of view and practice tolerance.

Application Process

Candidates who want to secure the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship must submit an application form to be considered for the same.

Candidates living near Focus regions for 2023 can submit a written application directly to the KAS office. Candidates living in Germany can apply through the domestic online process for the scholarship along with required documents.The application period ends on July 15th each year

Student supporting Documents

  • A formal CV including previous attended social camps
  • Letter of motivation
  • Academic transcripts with certified translations.
  • Proof of German language Proficiency Certificate: B2 skill
  • Letter of Recommendation
    • signed from the University Professor holding a doctoral. The letter should not be two months old.
  • Joining letter from the University concerned
  • A photograph (only for identification purpose)

For Ph.D. scholars: A detailed description of their doctoral thesis (4-5 pages) written in German or English.


Selection Process

Every year, new focus regions are identified for the selection process. 

Interview Location: The next regional selection conferences will take place in 2023 in cooperation with the KAS offices in Turkey, Singapore and South Caucasus.

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following factors

  • Academic qualification
  • Citizenship
  • Documents submitted at the time of application.

Recipients of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship will be informed online on their respective Email id. Once shortlisted, applicants will be sent further details via the nomination mail.


Grant Details

KAS Foundation offers a scholarship for international students in Germany by offering the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship.

  • It is presented to students who want to study master, postgraduate or doctoral programs.
  • The overall stipend of 20,400 EUR for the PG courses and 43,200 EUR for the doctoral courses respectively is divided into monthly installments.

Other benefits offered to the recipients of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship are:

  • Subsidize health care insurance up to the amount of 120 EURO per month.
  • Family allowance of 276 EURO provided that you and spouse live together in Germany for three months and
    • His/her income does not exceed the amount of € 450 per month.
  • Children’s allowance of 194 EURO per month for children living with you in Germany.
  • Tuition fees incurred at the university can be reimbursed up to €1,500 per semester in exceptional cases and on application if the budget is good.

Note: Prerequisites are the submission of an official German translation of the child’s birth certificate and the official rejection of your demand for public child allowance.

Apart from that, KAS scholars will be :

  • Mentored by staff and representatives at the universities
  • Become part of the manifold seminar program
  • Being part of a local university group and of our Buddy-Program
