Brunel International Excellence Scholarship

Brunel International Excellence Scholarship is designed for international students beginning their higher education at Brunel University. The scholarship program is applicable to all Brunel UG and PG courses.

  • Recipients of Brunel International Excellence Scholarship are awarded GBP 6000.
    • For PG students, 6000 GBP must be used for tuition fee payment
    • For UG students, 6000 GBP must be used for fee payment for 3 years.
  • Applicants must not be sponsored by any external body or government.
  • Selection criteria for the scholarship include academic merit and professional experience.

Brunel International Excellence Scholarship is allocated in two phases: September entry and January entry. The applicants who will not be awarded in the first phase would be automatically considered in the second phase. 

How many: 60 scholarships are available 

September entry: awards will be allocated in May 2023, to those applicants who meet all the following eligibility criteria. 

January entry: any remaining awards will be allocated in November 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

The Brunel International Excellence Scholarship is available for self-funded international students. Other eligibility requirements for the Brunel International Excellence Scholarship are as follows:

The applicants must meet all the conditions of their offer by the time they are due to register at Brunel.

The Brunel International Excellence Scholarship is NOT available for the following:

  • Applicants sponsored by a Government or external body
  • Postgraduate Research Applicants
  • Applicants not willing to commence their course in September 2023 or January 2024
  • Applicants eligible for other College Specific Scholarship for international students
  • Undergraduate applicants who are entering a course at level 5 or level 6
  • Applicants who have previously studied with Brunel University
  • Applicants of distance learning and part-time study programs
  • Applicants entering a course with the Brunel Language Centre or London Brunel International College (LBIC), also those who are progressing to a Brunel course from an LBIC course

Application Process

The applicants who have applied for a full-time UG or PG course commencing in September 2023 or January 2024 at the Brunel University can apply for the International Excellence Scholarship.

The various requirements involved in the application process are listed below:

  1. Register and complete the application form.
  2. A valid Brunel Student ID mentioned on the Brunel Offer Letter
  3. Provide the following details:
  4. Details of academic qualifications
    1. Official Transcripts
    2. Personal Statement
    3. TOEFL/ IELTS/ PTE /Cambridge ESOL/MELAB score
    4. Work Experience Details

The applications for the scholarship will only be accepted by the university panel if all sections of the application form are completed within the stated deadlines.

Selection Process

Each application will be assessed by the Brunel University against the various terms and conditions of the scholarship. As mentioned earlier, the panel will only evaluate applications that are complete in all respects.

The Brunel International Excellence Scholarship is awarded to those applicants who most closely meet or exceed the criteria for the award.

Recipients of Brunel International Excellence Scholarship are contacted within four weeks of the deadline.

Deadlines: 

September entry: Apply by 30 April 2023 to be considered for an award.

Applicants who are unsuccessful in securing a £6,000 International Excellence Scholarship award may be considered for other award opportunities part of the International Excellence Scheme, where available.

January entry: Apply by 20 October 2023 to be considered for an award.

Successful applicants will be contacted within four weeks of each deadline.

All awards will be finalised once all offer conditions have been met.

Applications for the January 2024 (2023/24 academic year) scholarship will open in late 2023. If a January applicant applies early (by using the September scholarship application in error) their application will not be considered and the applicant will have to reapply using the correct application form.

NOTE: The scholarship does not replace the deposit of £5,000. All scholarship winners will need to pay the £5,000 deposit for their course in order to receive an unconditional offer and a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS). The amount of their scholarship will be deducted from the remaining fees.
