Sheffield International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship

Sheffield International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship is offered to international students who wish to study abroad at the University of Sheffield. Students must have an offer of study at the University of Sheffield to apply for the same.

  • Students must commence study in any of the UG program offered by the University of Sheffield to be eligible.
    • Students of Medicine and dentistry are excluded.
  • A total of 50 scholarships are offered under Sheffield International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship.
  • Recipients will get 50% of the tuition fees waiver for the program of their study.
  • Applications for the scholarship are currently being accepted and the deadline for the same is April 24, 2023.

Selection is based on academic background, a reason to pursue a course at the university and the future goals of the candidates.

The list of students selected for the scholarship will be declared on  May 17, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must secure admission at the University of Sheffield to be eligible for Sheffield International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship. In addition to that, they must meet the eligibility requirements listed below :

  • Applicants must pursue an undergraduate program at the University of Sheffield with an exception of :
    • Dentistry
    • Medicine.
  • They must enter the first year of study to be eligible.
  • Applicants must be self-funded international students
  • Sponsored students are not eligible.

Application Process

Candidates are required to apply for the Sheffield International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship online. Steps involved to submit an online application is mentioned below:

  1. The students are required to log in by using the University of Sheffield account.
  2. Those candidates who do not have an account can register themselves by clicking on the "register now" link available on the website.
  3. Upon logging in, they will be redirected to an application form.
  4. Candidates are then required to provide the relevant personal details along with the choice of the scholarship they are applying for.

The online application process closes on April 24, 2023. Candidates must ensure that applications must be submitted before the deadline.


Selection Process

Once the applications are received by the university, next follow the selection process. It is conducted by a committee consisting of senior staff members based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate a clear objective for applying for a course at the University of Sheffield.
    • Whether the candidate has clearly expressed their future ambitions with respect to the course applied for.
  • Must possess a strong academic profile.

After the final decision is made, recipients are notified of the outcome by May 17, 2023.

Terms and conditions regarding Award criteria

  • Selection for the scholarship is done for the first year of study only.
  • The continuation of the scholarship in the subsequent years will depend on the academic performance of the candidate.
  • For the continuation of the scholarship, students are required to obtain 60% or above in their examinations.
  • They are required to obtain a minimum of 120 credits in the previous year of study.
  • If a student in receipt of this scholarship decides to change their course of study, he/ she may have to forfeit the scholarship.
  • It is provided for a maximum of 4 academic years.

The University of Sheffield reserves every right to review and change scholarship provisions according to their choice.
