Boston Presidential Scholarship

Boston Presidential Scholarship recognizes students with academic excellence and offered to exceptionally talented students who actively participate in community events and extra-curricular activities outside the classrooms. It applies to incoming first-year UG students at Boston University.

  • No separate application form and additional essays are required by eligible applicants.
    • To be considered, students must apply for admission before December 1 for 2022-23
  • Recipients are financial assistance of 25,000 USD.
    • It is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.
  • Students are required to submit their official results of either the SAT or ACT examination.
  • Elements such as Statement of Purpose and LORs play a crucial role during selection process.

 Boston Presidential Scholarship is awarded to the first-year students by the Board of Admissions. Approximately 3% of the first-year students receive this scholarship every year.  It is one of the prestigious awards that is available to all first-year international students and does not have too many requirements to be the winner.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for the Boston Presidential Scholarship, applicants are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria listed below:

  • Applicants must either be a domestic or international student.
  • Enrolling in UG courses offered by Boston University.
  • Submit the official results of either the SAT or ACT examinations.
  • Demonstrate excellence in community events and extra-curricular activities apart from academics.

Note: Preference is often given to students taking admission in Science, Engineering or Business administration first year as a full-time full fee-paying student.

Students must remember that NO separate scholarship application is required. They just have to apply for admission before December 1.

Selection Process

The selection process takes place after post confirmation of admission at Boston UniversityWith the help of admission application form and supporting documents, the panel thoroughly evaluates each applicant. Final selections are based on the following criteria

  • Standardized test scores
  • Letter of Recommendation and Statement of Purpose
  • Academic qualifications and achievements
  • Non-academic achievements

Of all the eligible applicants, students are shortlisted and called for an interview session. This gives the selection panel an opportunity to decide Boston Presidential Scholarship recipients, post evaluation of their overall profile. The successful candidates are informed almost simultaneously about the admission and the award decision.

Students who wish to study in the USA at Boston University with some financial help may apply for Boston Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship is beneficial for students who have shown excellence in co-curricular activities and various community events apart from academics.

As mentioned, the scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at Boston University. Students selected under this scholarship scheme receive 25,000 USD per year.

They should also showcase their future vision and their community commitments to prove their worthiness for the award.
