UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize

UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize is a merit-based scholarship presented to students who are planning to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Canada at the University of Alberta (UAlberta).

  • Students must be registered full-time in a doctoral program offered at UAlberta.
  • Under UAlberta UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize, a total of 16 awards are given.
  • Both domestic and international are eligible for the UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize.

Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Alberta expects students to actively engage in thesis research at the time of the award offer.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize, students must first meet admission requirements at UAlberta. In addition to that, they must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

  • Both domestic and international students are eligible.
  • Students must be a full-time Ph.D. student.
  • Students must have completed at least 24 months (2 years) in their Ph.D. program by April 30, 2023.

Only those applicants who fulfill the requirements listed above will be considered for UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize.


Application Process

Students must submit the UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize declaration form along with required documents to their respective departments.

Departments will then forward nominees to Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.


Selection Process

Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR)  expects students to actively engage in thesis research at the time of the award offer.

The major selection criterion of UAlberta Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize is research accomplishment while registered in a doctoral program at the University of Alberta. They will also be judged on academic merit.

Note: UAlberta Andrew Steward Prize can be held concurrently with any other award if the terms of that award do not disallow it.
