KTH Joint Programme Scholarship

The KTH Joint Programme Scholarship is available for masters’ students pursuing joint programs at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The scholarship program only covers the tuition fee for the study period spent at KTH and not expenses living and staying in Sweden.

  • The scholarship program is awarded based on merit, together with other professional and extracurricular activities and involvement
  • Applicants must be in their first year or second year of their study in any of the selected joint programs.
  • Recipients must be a fee-paying student and attend one-two semesters of a joint program at KTH to be eligible.
  • Eligible students are required to submit their academic transcripts to info@kth.se for consideration.

Applications for KTH Joint Programme Scholarships for sessions starting in autumn 2021 and winter 2022 will open on April 1, 2021. The deadline for the same is April 15, 2021.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the KTH Joint Programme Scholarship, prospective applicants must meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

Note: Students in the following program are NOT eligible for the program:

  • Applicants for a master’s program in Innovative Technology for Healthy Living (EIT Health) or Molecular Techniques in Life Science, Turbomachinery Aeromechanical University Training (THRUST)
  • Applicants for a master's program in Mathematics
  • Admitted master’s program students in Innovative Technology for Healthy Living (EIT Health) who hold an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Application Process

The application process for KTH Joint Programme Scholarship is case specific.

  • First-year students at KTH: Those who haven’t applied for admission via universityadmissions.se must send scanned copies of following documents to info@kth.se.
    • bachelor's certificates and transcripts and
    • English translations of transcripts (if required)
  • Second-year students at KTH: Send scanned copies of their original transcripts from their first year of studies within the joint program to info@kth.se

Since recipients of the award will be required to be an ambassador of sustainable development which is a core part of KTH’s operations and spirit, scholarship applicants will be required to write an essay on how they intend to use the master's degree program from the school to execute their role in the society and contribute to sustainable development.


Selection Process

The University’s Selection Committee evaluates all submitted applications and selects the worthy candidates based on these five criteria below:

  • Applicant’s academic grades (expressed in GPA or equivalent)
    • For KTH second-year students, the previous study within the joint program is considered.
  • Applicant’s work experience, motivation, and extracurricular activities
  • Ranking of applicant’s previous university that awarded UG degree.
  • Applicant’s motivation to contribute to the sustainable development goals with a master’s degree from KTH.

The scholarship program focuses on rewarding academic excellence, leadership prowess, sustainable development, and contribution to a more sustainable society.
